Pippin’s Peek at the Past #2 … Memorial Day

Because it is Memorial Day, I decided to take you back to last year’s Memorial Day post that Grandma OC made. Like Grammy says, we must remember that “Freedom’s NEVER Free!” Someone ALWAYS has to pay the price, and we are grateful to those men and women, and their families that have sacrificed limbs and even lives, for us and our freedom.

Today’s questions are:
1. I’m proud of my Papa… he served during what war? ____________
2. For what group did he serve last Memorial Day? ____________

To find the answers, follow the above "Blue" link to our past post!

The Rules for my Puzzles follow the same format as Mercy’s game, with 5 sessions, and the winners who answer all the questions of each puzzle correctly, will each get a Badge to display for the weekly wins. At the end of the 5 sessions, all of the winner’s names will be put into a Corgi Toss and the Grand Prize Winner will be chosen.

The Grand Prize Winner will get their choice of one of two prizes…

1. A “Little Dott Finds A Home” book  OR

2. A $15 Gift Certificate to our Country Corgi CafePress Shop (We’ve added a LOT of new designs – here are a few…)

AND

A $10 donation in your name, to the Unity Thrift and Outreach Dog Rescue that Grammy’s Sister works with. This is also the Dog Rescue Group that Grammy has fostered for during emergencies.

The following links go to Newspaper Articles about Linda Hodges (Trixie) and Unity Thrift and Outreach if you’d like to know more. They have saved over 1,000 dogs over the past year!

Wu Names…

Grammy:  We went to this place that Dozer from Our Life: Dozer and Cooper suggested and put in our names to see what our “Wu Names” would be and here are the results:

This is SO FUNNY!  We are as follows:

Dott = The Prickly Comedian: Dott is always making her dad laugh at her antics, but she's a little witch to us!

BG= Loose-Lipped Controller: BG is trying his best to control all the loose tempers from "teen-aged male corgis" that are due for some "tutoring," and menopausal females that just got "sprayed."

OC = Crafty Barnardo:  OC is always trying to be sneaky and start a fight with Sadie like some kind of Mafioso

Gimli = Victorian Cow:  Everyone is saying how BIG he is getting, but he is so laid back (except around Pip), and Robert often calls him a big cow (like when he won't move...)

Pippin = Sullen Choirboy:  THAT FITS HIM TO A T!!!  He is always sulking around until his Papa comes home, and yet he acts so innocent... unless he's picking a fight with Gimli... (WHO... Me?)

Mercy = Action-Packed Mentallist:  Mercy's Wu Name is also right on track!  She jumps right in to any fusses and is always glaring at the others like she's trying to hypnotize them into doing what she wants...  Hysterical!!!!

This is so funny! If you want to try it, go HERE!

Good Bye, Dear Max...

With sad hearts we take this time to say Good bye, for now, to our Dear Friend Maxdog from South Africa.

All of us, here in Corgi Country, have our little noses pointed up toward the Rainbow Bridge and are singing our WWwwooooooos out with all our hearts, for though we are so happy that Max is running free from the tiredness he has felt for so long now, we are sad for ourselves and for all of those around the world that have loved him, prayed for him, and tried to help support his family through this time of his illness.

Max fought for 106 days past when the Dr. said only a week or two left,  to stay with his Dear Mom until after her birthday, and though he has been pain free, he just got too tired, so she has given him the greatest gift, freed him from this world and sent him ahead...

Caryle and Maxdog have enriched our lives so much throughout his life, and we all want to say thank you. We are surrounding your family with prayers and love, during this time...

Pippin’s PP Puzzle #1 Winners by BG

I’m happy to report that we had 5 winners in this session of our Pippin’s Peek at the Past Puzzle. Congratulations to:

1. Betty and Koda from A Corgi in Southern California
2. Mayzie, from Mayzie’s Dog Blog
3. Freya from Freya the Corgi
4. Sandie from Chatty Crone
5. Ruby and Penny from Ruby & Penny – 2 Mini dachshunds

You can copy and take this Winner’s Badge to your blog if you’d like, and your names will be put into the drawing for the Grand Prize in a few weeks!

We hope you enjoyed spending a little time in our "Time Machine" and seeing the pups when they were so little.

We know we also have some horse lovers here, and so they got a chance to see our horses, too. (Hint: I ALWAYS put in a Bright Blue link to the blog post with the answers.)

I visited that sweet Lorenza’s blog, El Diario de Lorenza  today and she was happy to report that the swimming pool has opened in her yard. I can hardly wait to see her in her swimsuit, a she always has such pretty dresses on when she goes out for walks on her blog.

We had SO MUCH FUN on Date Night… Big Sigh…

Speaking of Date Night… Another thing that we want to mention is that our friend, Twix from A Wiener Dog Blog is having tests run because she has been having some problems and we are hoping that it is not being caused by something serious. We are asking for prayer for our sweet little Mini Doxie friend. She is the one that put on such a wonderful time for all of us at Date Night! Grammy is praying for you, sweet friend, and we are thinking good thoughts and keeping our paws crossed for you, too.

Some of us get to go on a Road Trip tomorrow to go up to Mick and Little Bear’s place. Grammy can hardly wait to see all of them. She is also looking forward to see the baby’s room that they have been fixing up for their new daughter when she gets here in a few more months. Grammy and Papa haven’t decided yet, who gets to go…Gimli went last time, so I hope I get to this time...

Pippin’s Peek at the Past Puzzle #1

Mercy had her Miss Mercy Monday Mystery game, and my Dad told Grammy that I should get a chance to host a game, too! We decided to call it the Pippin’s Peek at the Past Puzzle, and think that it will also help a lot of our new followers to learn a bit more about the Country Corgis.

It will follow the same format as Mercy’s game, with 5 sessions, and the winners who answer the puzzle correctly will each get a Badge to display for the weekly wins.

AND

A $10 donation in your name to the Unity Thrift and Outreach Dog Rescue that Grammy’s Sister works with. This is also the Dog Rescue Group that Grammy has fostered for during emergencies (including our dad… ooops…)

That is what Oskar chose for his GABE prize. Naunie (Grammy’s Sister) and her friend (Trixie) were very happy to receive this help and say a BIG “Thank You, so much!” to Oskar.

The following 2 links go to Newspaper Articles about Linda Hodges (Trixie) and Unity Thrift and Outreach if you’d like to know more.

1. http://www.taftmidwaydriller.com/news/x1043117645/Local-animal-rescue-team-gets-4-100-donation (Naunie is just to Mrs. Hodges right, in the purplish blue top.)

Now, for our first Pippin’s Peek at the Past Puzzle. Today, one of our favorite things happened! It happens every two or three months and usually results in a TREASURE HUNT for all of us! What fun! If you follow the link, you will see the very FIRST of the Treasure hunts my brother and sisters got to attend with the rest of my family! Gimli wrote that one, and please remember that we were only 3 months old, and just learning to write at the time, ok?

Below, we are chewing on pieces of the treasure that Grammy brought in for us today (because it started raining outside just as they finished…)

More, Grammy… I need seconds…

thirds?

Stay back and you won’t lose your nose!

Mama Dott REALLY gets into chewing on HER piece of treasure!

Yummy! This is SOOOOO GOOOOODDD!!!

Pippin’s Peek at the Past Puzzle Questions (You must answer ALL 3 of them to win this week’s challenge)
1. What happens that creates our “treasure?”
2. What IS our chewy “treasure?”
3. What do they have Cory do to make him give up his part of the treasure? (Hint: Gimli got muddy because of this…)

Remember, too, that Grammy will have the comments in a "moderation mode" so that everyone will have a fair chance at figuring out the puzzle. You will have until approximately Wednesday at Noon, Pacific Time to get in your answers.  Hope you enjoy this week's Peek at the Past Puzzle.

Finally got Clive’s Picture to Ireland & Hair/Fur Needed…

Grammy was so happy to hear from Clive, the Assistance Dog in Ireland. He is the one that won the Mango Minster 2010 Best in Show. She had finally finished the portrait that she had been working on for the Grand Prize. With all the stuff that’s happened around here… hospital visits and funeral, etc. it’s taken her quite a while, and that has really bothered her.

She was so worried that she was making Clive’s NSLM (Not So Little Man) unhappy. She had sent it a couple of weeks ago, but it had a LONG way to go from here in California all the way to Ireland, and she was so relieved to find out that it had finally made it safe and sound, and that Clive and Murray really liked it.

We just want to tell Clive congratulations, again, for winning Best in Show at the Mango Minster 2010 from the Country Corgis! Murray’s big smile made Grammy so happy that she cried! You can follow the link to their blog if you want to see that beautiful smile and the portrait.

Also, we wanted to tell you that when we visited Cathy Santarsiero, "The Christmas Corgi’s," Facebook page, she told about how they want hair… human, horse, sheep, dog, etc. to make oil absorbing booms for that huge oil spill.

It seems that hair soaks up this kind of oil and there are big wear house places that they want people to ship the hair/fur that us furry critters “wear” when it comes off. She thought, and Grammy agrees, that there are a few of us breeds out here in bloggy land that have a “bit” of extra hair springing off of us now that it’s turning into Spring, and we can put it to good use and maybe save some other animal’s lives.

If you might have a bit of “extra” hair to spare, and we are thinking Corgis and Sibes, especially… please follow this link to “Matter of Trust” to find out how and where to mail it to if you are interested…
