She’s HOME… and in BIG TROUBLE! By Dott

Here is the link to the conclusion of Mango’s Big Adventure: My Big Adventure – Conclusion

We hope that you all followed along to see ALL of what was happening over there with Mercy and the rest of the gang.

We were on the edge of our seats with everything that was going on, and were very relieved to read this final post and see that our wayward Miss Mercy, hadn’t gotten herself maimed or injured, and was on her way home with the rest, in Dennis the Vizsla’s private jet. As you can see, she met a LOT of our blogging furiends!

We are so glad, too, that the Lacie Beast’s hold on our friend’s minds was able to be lifted from them and that they are all back to normal again! We just KNEW that Khyra, Twinkie, Zep, and Chrome wouldn’t do something like this because they are just way to sweet!

It is both sad and SCARY that the Lacie Beast is still loose out there coming up with some other dastardly plan! Actually, she has probably given up on dastardly plans because her people Dad is in the hospital, and we ask that any of you that pray, please drop by and visit and pray for him.

We also want to thank Mango and Dexter’s Mom for doing such an awesome job in helping to chronicle this adventure while Mango and Dexter were busy living it! We think she did an awesome job!!! Take a bow, Mango Mom!!!

One thing is certain, Miss Mercy is going to be grounded for a LONG time, and probably be doing a lot of extra chores around here, too.

No, boys, that does NOT mean that she will be your slave, and if you want to KEEP those noses on your faces, you’d better NOT push her about this!

Mercy has no business getting involved with someone that’s several times her age, and Papa had a LONG talk with her…

She's still got a bit of an attitude, but is rather disillusioned with Dexter because he didn’t jump in on his own to help save Mr. Mango. If you’ve been with us very long, you know that everyone around here “really looks UP to, Mr. Mango.” (pun intended).

We also want to say congratulations to Jackal, Zep and Chrome’s canine friend, for cornering a nasty, vicious possum so that it could be dispatched, and  to award him one of Dott’s Mighty Hunter Awards. We haven’t given out this award for quite a while, but if you have a “Mighty Hunter” among your furiends, let us know.

We are hoping to start our “Gimli’s Grab-bag of Games” next week, and we are still waiting for our winners of the Pippin's Peek at the Past Puzzles...

and of our Birthday Drawing to email us with their addresses so that we can get their prizes out to them… Hint, hint…

P.S. As we were finishing this post, we just got the news that Mango had a seizure the other night. He went to the ER where they checked him out and is home now. Please keep Mango and his Mom in your prayers. His Mom asked all of his friends if they had any kind of info on this sort of thing, and she got all kinds of information. Grammy copied and pasted it to keep for her own information. She plans to consolidate it and put it in her doggy health info folder. She suggests it might be wise for others to do this too, because it’s always good to know what to do in any kind of emergency. There was good info for cleaning up wet potty stains and smells, too ... many that are natural.

Finally! Pippen’s Peek at the Past #5…

It’s FINALLY here! The last Pippin’s Peek at the Past Puzzle! This is the big one because once we get the winners from this puzzle, we will be able to put all of our winner’s into a Corgi Toss, and one of us will choose to see who gets the GRAND PRIZE!

Since so many of you played the Name Game this past week, I thought I’d take you back to August of last year for the Name Game that one of our little friends hosted then.

In that post, Grandma OC told how she, Uncle BG and Mama Dott got their names. We, pups, hadn’t come along yet, though there were suspicions that we were on the way.

Before I get to the questions, though, I thought I’d remind everyone how me and my sibs got our names. First, Gimli, since he was first born. His name comes from the Dwarf that was in the movie called “The Lord of the Rings.” Corgis are called Dwarf Dogs by some, and so GrandPaw Robert, who is a big Sci-Fi nut… uh… fan… thought that would be a good name for him.

When Grammy decided to keep him, she almost changed his name to either Oreo or Panda, but she finally decided to keep the name he was used to. She sometimes calls him Gim, Gimmers, or Gim-er-lee when she’s playing with him. Papa calls him Pest, or GETDOWN You Big Oaf! He does that mainly when Gim runs, jumps and lands right on his belly.  GrandPaw Robert calls him Gimbo or Gimbo-lya.

GrandPaw Robert had named Mercy her name when she was born because she looked (and still does look) like she had a white “angel” marking on the back of her neck and he wanted to name the girls Mercy and Grace (which he did.) She had the “Angel of Mercy” on her so she got the name Mercy. (She sure doesn’t act like an angel, though. She’s got an awful temper. Grammy says she's a born Alpha with no where to put it…)

Grammy shortens it to Merc(ss) sometimes and usually just calls her “MercyMe,” though there are times she calls her “Miss Witch.” Papa calls her “MOVE,” or “Get-outa-my face!” when he’s trying to read, and a few other things when she jumps on him to wake him up on Saturdays when he doesn’t have to work.

I was originally called Neelix by GrandPaw. This was a character in Star Trek AND corgis are only knee high so they often lick you on the knees. When Papa decided to keep me, though, HE named me Pippin which was the name of a small shoulder riding dragon in one of his favorite Sci-Fi Series. It also means a very little thing, which I am, compared to Mercy and Gimli, because I took after my Mama Dott’s size. He also calls me Pip-pip, Pipper, or Pippy-puppy.

Grammy tends to call me Pippy, PIP-en, Peep-in, or Pee-pen. GrandPaw calls me, Pippy, Pippy-Pup and sometimes, Pip-squeak or Squeaker.

For new readers/players, here are the rules: There will be 5 sessions, (this is the 5th, and last, one) and the winners who answer all questions in each puzzle correctly, will each get a Badge to display for the weekly wins. At the end of the 5 sessions, all of the winner’s names will be put into a Corgi Toss and the Grand Prize Winner will be chosen.

The Grand Prize Winner will get their choice of one of two prizes…

Pippin’s Peek at the Past #4 Winners!

We only had 2 winners this time, though 3 others got really close, only missing one question of the three each.

Congratulations to:
1. Dory and Mama from Dory’s Backyard
2. Ruby and Penny from Ruby & Penny – 2 Mini dachshunds

You two can copy and take this Winner’s Badge to your blog if you’d like, and your names will be put into the drawing for the Grand Prize in just a couple more weeks!

We want to thank Ruby & Penny, and Betty & Koda for pointing out that our link wasn’t working AGAIN, fairly early so we could get it fixed. I’m so sorry about that.

The Questions & Answers were:

1. What did the pups find in the back yard? A tarantula

2. What was BG’s little ex-mistress doing in the picture? Riding a horse

3. What did they find in the tackroom when they went to feed the horses? A snake

I think some got fooled by the “BG’s little ex-mistress” part cause Sadie was sniffing the tarantula in one of the pictures, but she isn’t BG’s ex-mistress, and some were fooled by the “doing in the picture” part because the WORDS DID say that she was helping to feed when we found the snake.

You 3 were SO CLOSE!!! I guess it was a bit harder than I thought, but at least those that missed THIS time, have gotten it right at least some of the other times, and everyone still has another chance to get your name in during our Fifth and LAST Pippin’s Peek at the Past Puzzle.

So far, here is the rundown on the Weekly Winners:

Mango   (1) from #2
Chatty Crone   (1) from #2
Angela   (1) from #2
That Corgi   (2) from #2 and #3
Khyra   (1) from #2
Ruby & Penny (3) from #2, #3, & #4
Rudy (2) from #2 and #3
Dory (2) from #2 and #4
Mayzie (1) from #3

Congratulations to all of you!

Pippin’s Peek at the Past #3 … Remember Gracie?

I decided, since we just got an email from Gracie, and since we had tried to go see my sister, Gracie, over the weekend, that I would take you back to the post where we took to her new home.

First, here is the email that we got from my little sister and her New Mom… (I edited it to be sure that she didn’t accidentally give you an answer to my puzzle.  Also, I know it's an old picture...)

Email from Gracie and her Mom (apparently her Mom tried to censure edit some of Gracie’s letter):

Hi, Everyone!

I am sorry that we missed you on Saturday. Mom is off on the weekends, and we are often running errands or with family and friends then. Our little devil dog sweet heart is doing good. (Gracie: I had to edit Mom’s comments at times… Mom comment: She is her Dad’s little angel and my devil.) We are having a blast together.

We have gone camping several times, and me and my other two adoptive sibling-dogs play non-stop. I love playing tug a war with my 120 lb shepherd sib. We will send you new pictures as soon as Mom gets another camera because hers isn’t working. I only weigh 18.5 lbs. so am very petite! (Mom: and looks like a butter ball.)

I am doing a really good job of training my humans. When I want something I stare at them, then hit their foot and give a little bark. They have learned that is my way of telling them that I want out or want to be in their lap. My other little sibling-dog Cooper, and I zoom around the yard so fast that Mom says its like lightening. They say that there is continuous laughter at our house.

Grammy, you should come with your Sister, Naunie, next time she comes to the shelter to bring us more rescue dogs. Mom says she will bring me in to show you how beautiful I am.

I have finally decided to stop digging because it irritates Mom so bad, but I still chew on her plants every once in a while. I still sleep in a crate at night next to Cooper and Haas in our bedroom. Haas may be bigger, but I am in charge of the house and yard. My people love me and I love them very much. (Mom: Thanks again for our little girl.) Mama Dott, as you can see, I’m doing really well, so be happy for me, OK? Gracie, Mascot of the -----------.

We had been quite sad that we had missed getting a chance to visit with my sister, Saturday, but it was really wonderful to get this email from her to catch up on how she is doing. Auntie Naunie always tells Grammy that she’s doing great when she goes over there, but still, it was nice to hear from her ourselves! We can hardly wait to get some new pictures of her! I had to use old ones in this post as you saw… You will find the Post about Gracie going to her new home HERE.

Today’s questions are:
1. Gracie went to live in her new home in ****, CA.
2. Gracie is Mascot and her Mom is the Director of what rescue? --- -------- ------ -- --------
3. Name at least one of the two adult Chorgis that went with us: --------

For new readers/players, here are the rules: There will be 5 sessions, (this is the 3rd one) and the winners who answer all questions in each puzzle correctly, will each get a Badge to display for the weekly wins. (See last session's Winners Badge) At the end of the 5 sessions, all of the winner’s names will be put into a Corgi Toss and the Grand Prize Winner will be chosen.
The Grand Prize Winner will get their choice of one of two prizes…

1. A “Little Dott Finds A Home” book (see sidebar)

OR

2. A $15 Gift Certificate to our Country Corgi CafePress Shop (We’ve added a LOT of new designs – here are a few…)

Oh, and if you want to know more about one of Grammy's old dogs that was one of Grandma OC's best friends, check out the Tuesday's Show & Tail Post on Grammy's other blog, A Country Grammy's Walk With God.   These are hosted by Angela over at West Virginia Treasures each week, and are where you can share stories about animals you know, have known, or have seen.  Grammy puts things about the horses we have and other animals she's had in the past, there sometimes.
