I’m Entering Mango Minster 2012… by Dott

Can you BELIEVE it!?!  It is January again, and time for Mango Minster, the premier Dog Blog Dog Show, hosted by none other than our HUGE friend, Mango the Mastiff!  He and his mom put on the BEST Dog show each year, and put in TONS of work on making it fun for everyone.  Even if you don’t enter, there are great adventures, contests and games featured by Mango’s furiends, and he has a TON of them!!!

A couple of years ago, OC even got to be one of the judges, and Grammy provided one of the First Place Prizes… a portrait of the winner, which was Clive, a Golden Doodle Helper Dog to his autistic friend.

We JUST found out about this year’s Mango Minster last night when Grammy FINALLY felt well enough to get online and let us visit some of our old friends.  One of the classes is “Too Darn Cute!” and when my Dad found out about that, he said that I HAD to enter!  That’s what he’s called me from the time I was born… EVERY DAY… SEVERAL times a DAY!!!

Dad says I am cute when I’m sleeping with my toy squirrel,

And cute when I’m out doing “Squirrel Patrol” for REAL squirrels.

He says I’m cute from the front (I was sneezing).
and cute from the back  (I was bowing).
He says both sides of my profile are cute, too!

He laughs and says I’m cute when I’m dirty

 and cute when I’m clean…

He snickers and says I’m cute when I’m ANGRY  (wouldn’t YOU be!)

And cute when I’m angelic…

He even said I was cute when I was FAT  (I was in the family way)

and cute when I am thin!

He says I’m especially cute when I do my tricks… Here I am with my "Hands up..."

And here are a few more on this video.

Do YOU think I’m cute enough to win?  Are you “SQUEEEEEing” yet?

We Got TREATS! by Gimli

We got a box in the mail a few days ago! It had some really GOOD smells coming from it!

We could hardly wait for Grammy to open it for us after we read that it was from our friend Palette and her Mom, Yassy, who makes some WONDERFUL dog treats! She also has other dog treats that she doesn’t make herself, but that Palette “taste tests,” and she sells them from her online Website, Yassy’s Gourmet Dog Kitchen.

Grammy had ordered a Moose Antler for us to chew on this time! We’ve LOVED the deer antlers, we’ve gotten from them before, and they last a LONG time, so Grammy loves them too!

When she found out they had Moose Antlers, she decided to get one to see if they last a long time too, and if we would like THEM. Well, DUH!

NOW, this week, we found out they also have Caribou Antlers, and Grammy says she wants to try to get some of them too, next time. We got a “Coupon code” (AUGLB) that is good for 10% off all the way up to Oct. 24th of this year. Yassy also sent a couple of extra treats like she usually puts in her orders. We got a Lamb Trachea AND some Buffalo Liver cookies!

They said we could share the code with our furiends and they also have a GDK’s circle of Furiends reward program on their store menu where you can even get more off! This is really great because Grammy also got us some “Surf and Turf Jerky” that Yassy makes from wild caught salmon and Buffalo meat. THAT was SO GOOD!!! Some of us were drooling before she was able to give each of us a piece!

We are sharing about our wonderful treats too, because we are joining Sugar the Golden Retriever’s Tasty Tuesday Blog Hop. Her Mom also makes some wonderful dog treats that we’ve gotten before and loved!  These were Apple Bites...

This Blog Hop goes through September 8th. There’s even a prize! You can find out more about it HERE

You should join in if you’ve got a post about some kind of doggie treat your Mom gets for you! Now, I’m going back to my moose antler!

Dozer Gave us An Award!

Our pal, Dozer, gave us an award! We convinced Grammy that now she HAD to let us do a post! Besides, she’s been sick for so long and is starting to feel better now, but there is no TELLING when she will ever get things “caught up” and let us start posting regularly. We are working on convincing her to try letting us do some Wordless Wednesday and Silent Saturday posts at least. We miss all of you SO MUCH!!!!

Apparently one must share 7 things about yourself as part of accepting this award. There are so many of us that we will have to see how this works out. We have decided that each of us will put down four things, so here goes…

OC

(1) I’m almost 12 years old… only two months more.

(2) I’m in a wheelchair now to support my hind end, and may soon have to go into one to support my whole body since my shoulder is starting to have problems.

(3) I do NOT like Sadie, the Border Collie that lives here! (This is no big secret for those who have known us for sometime.)

(4) I do NOT think it is fair that I can’t go out on squirrel patrol anymore, and let EVERYONE know about it during the whole time the rest are outside. I’m beginning to think they’ve changed my name to “SHUT UP, OC!”

BG

(1) I’m 4 and a half years old, and BG stands for Bud’s Grandson.

(2) I’m a helper dog for Grammy and pick things up for her from the floor so she doesn’t have to bend down so much since that hurts her back and hip. (if I can beat Sadie and Gimli to them.)

(3) I LOVE my Dad, and spend most of every evening on HIS lap!

(4) I’ve been having trouble convincing Gimli that I am top male dog in this family!

Little Dott

(1) I have taken over as the Alpha Dog in this household even though I am the smallest. They ALL listen to ME, and I can usually break up fights by putting myself in between whoever is fighting (unless it’s a bunch of them fighting and my Dad won’t LET me stop them!)

(2) I’m the mother of four pups, three of which live here with us in Corgi Country. They are ALL much bigger than me.  Here is a three generation "girl" picture.

(3) I’ve got all the humans in this household TOTALLY wrapped around my little dew claw!

(4) I’m very literary and have written and published a book, AND have my OWN facebook page with 597 people following me!

Gimli

(1) I am 16 months old and was the firstborn of Mama Dott’s litter. I am the biggest of all the pups. (What do you think of my smile?)

(2) I had an infection for several months that made me lose most of the muscles in my head until it looked like a skeleton. It also thickened my nose and jaw some, so I look a little different than the other corgis, especially since my sister, Mercy, is an ear assassin and BROKE one of my ears down. Grammy loves me anyway, though!

(3) I am very smart and am learning very quickly how to be a helper dog for Grammy. This, sometimes causes some problems because I try to pick up things she drops and so does Uncle BG at the same time and then we get upset at each other.

(4) Since I am bigger, I think that I should be top male, and Uncle BG and I are having some major discussions about this!

Mercy

(1) I’m the same age as Gimli and Pippin, was the second pup born, was one of two girls, and have an “angel” with outstretched wings marking on the back of my neck, so Dad (Robert) called me Mercy… as in the angel of Mercy.

(2) I was BORN an alpha dog, and have no place to put my “alpha-ness” which tends to make me grouchy.

(3) Dad has decided to say I am “smiling” and “purring” when around the other dogs. I DO love my Dad, Grammy and Papa, and my Uncle BG, and generally get along fairly well with Mama Dott.

(4) I HAVE learned to do “high fives” and give “kisses,” but, like Mama Dott, I am NOT a servant and refuse to do things that might make people think I am!!!

Pippin

(1) I was third born, and am smaller than any of the other pups… almost as small as Mama Dott!

(2) I’m Papa’s dog, and LIVE for him and his return from work. I will even leave my dinner if he is going to bed, so Grammy often has to bring it into the bedroom for me to finish if she forgets and feeds us late.

(3) Everyone says that I am “a bit hyper…” This is NOT true. I just don’t like to be still (unless it is on Papa’s lap.)

(4) I LOVE my Unca BG and try to do everything he does… at least in regards to Papa… not Grammy, though she IS pretty good about treats!

We would like to pass this award onto some friends of ours, but since we’ve been off of here for so long, we don’t know who has already gotten it and who hasn’t. Since ALL the blogs we follow are so “Stylish” and interesting, feel free to pick it up for your blog if you don’t already have it, and thanks again, Dozer for giving it to us (and "figuratively" kicking Grammy in the tush so she would let us post again!)

PS:  We just heard some bad news about our friend, Twix!  She is very sick and needs prayers and possible ideas as to what is wrong as the vets are stumped at this time.  You can go to her blog to read about it HERE!

Twinkie’s Tongue Contest by BG

Grammy got a lot of pictures to share their Anniversary Trip with you, but that will have to wait until the next time, because we have to get our entries in for Twinkie Tinydog’s Tongue Contest.  Twinkie is hosting a Pet Photo Contest in honor of National Dog Week, and she wants everyone to:

SHOW US YOUR TONGUE

I get to host this post because they DIDN’T take me on their trip! (Which STUNK!!!) Anyway, here goes! This is my best tongue shot. What do you think, Twink? Gee, I’m a poet and didn’t know it! I am BG, and I’m a 4 year old Chorgi (Corgi/Chihuahua/Doxie Mix).

Here is my sister, Dorothy Joy Wigglebottom with her BIGGEST smiley face after a rabbit chase. She is the same age/breed as I am cause we were from the same batch of puppies.

This is my Mama, OC (Ornery Cuss) and her big smiley face after doing squirrel patrol in our side pasture a couple of years ago.

Now for the Pups. Actually, these guys and their sister are a whole year old now, so I suppose they aren’t, technically, pups, but they are still young whipper snappers to me! I am listing them in birth order, oldest to youngest:

These of Gimli and Mercy were taken after they had been running the Obstacle course in our back yard:
Gimli:  (Awww… come on, Unca Beeg… NOT the big NOSE picture!!!  How embarrassing!)
Mercy: (Thanks, Uncle BG, for show off one of my pretty posing pictures!  Blinks her big eyes...)

And, last but not least, our little Pippin, MY protégé! BIG old yawn!
Pippin:  (Is this big enough, Unca Beeg... Is it?  IS IT!?)

Well, Twinkie... What do you think?

She’s HOME… and in BIG TROUBLE! By Dott

Here is the link to the conclusion of Mango’s Big Adventure: My Big Adventure – Conclusion

We hope that you all followed along to see ALL of what was happening over there with Mercy and the rest of the gang.

We were on the edge of our seats with everything that was going on, and were very relieved to read this final post and see that our wayward Miss Mercy, hadn’t gotten herself maimed or injured, and was on her way home with the rest, in Dennis the Vizsla’s private jet. As you can see, she met a LOT of our blogging furiends!

We are so glad, too, that the Lacie Beast’s hold on our friend’s minds was able to be lifted from them and that they are all back to normal again! We just KNEW that Khyra, Twinkie, Zep, and Chrome wouldn’t do something like this because they are just way to sweet!

It is both sad and SCARY that the Lacie Beast is still loose out there coming up with some other dastardly plan! Actually, she has probably given up on dastardly plans because her people Dad is in the hospital, and we ask that any of you that pray, please drop by and visit and pray for him.

We also want to thank Mango and Dexter’s Mom for doing such an awesome job in helping to chronicle this adventure while Mango and Dexter were busy living it! We think she did an awesome job!!! Take a bow, Mango Mom!!!

One thing is certain, Miss Mercy is going to be grounded for a LONG time, and probably be doing a lot of extra chores around here, too.

No, boys, that does NOT mean that she will be your slave, and if you want to KEEP those noses on your faces, you’d better NOT push her about this!

Mercy has no business getting involved with someone that’s several times her age, and Papa had a LONG talk with her…

She's still got a bit of an attitude, but is rather disillusioned with Dexter because he didn’t jump in on his own to help save Mr. Mango. If you’ve been with us very long, you know that everyone around here “really looks UP to, Mr. Mango.” (pun intended).

We also want to say congratulations to Jackal, Zep and Chrome’s canine friend, for cornering a nasty, vicious possum so that it could be dispatched, and  to award him one of Dott’s Mighty Hunter Awards. We haven’t given out this award for quite a while, but if you have a “Mighty Hunter” among your furiends, let us know.

We are hoping to start our “Gimli’s Grab-bag of Games” next week, and we are still waiting for our winners of the Pippin's Peek at the Past Puzzles...

and of our Birthday Drawing to email us with their addresses so that we can get their prizes out to them… Hint, hint…

P.S. As we were finishing this post, we just got the news that Mango had a seizure the other night. He went to the ER where they checked him out and is home now. Please keep Mango and his Mom in your prayers. His Mom asked all of his friends if they had any kind of info on this sort of thing, and she got all kinds of information. Grammy copied and pasted it to keep for her own information. She plans to consolidate it and put it in her doggy health info folder. She suggests it might be wise for others to do this too, because it’s always good to know what to do in any kind of emergency. There was good info for cleaning up wet potty stains and smells, too ... many that are natural.
