On Sunday afternoon after church, our people loaded Me, Dot and the four pups into the car and we left for the two hour drive to Ojai to take Gracie to her new forever home. Mama OC wasn’t happy, but Mom didn’t want her to be crowded into the car and upset by the pups crawling over her, not to mention not being able to change position for so long which might bother her back and hips.
It was a beautiful day for a drive and we took the short cut, back way through the mountains which made for a beautiful drive, too, even though we had to stop a few times because the pups acted like they had to go potty, and then Gracie up chucked. They think she got motion sickness.
The lady that took her is the Director of a No-Kill Animal Shelter in Ojai, The Humane Society of Ventura County
. Her husband is an animal behavioral specialist and Gracie will be one of their personal dogs which are a big part of their family. They’ve wanted a corgi for a while, and are very familiar with the breed as her sister has several corgis. Mom is very satisfied with the home that she will be getting, as these people’s lives are totally involved with loving animals and caring for them.
That sister of Mom’s that does Dog Rescue work has known this lady for quite a while now and just really loves and respects her for the self-less way she works so tirelessly for the animals in her area. They take a lot of the puppies from this area over to that shelter to find homes for them, and they do a yard check before they let any of the shelter dogs go to a new home.
When we got to the Shelter (the Lady was working there at that time, so that’s where we met her) she was just totally thrilled.
She’d never seen a whole herd of corgi puppies before, and thought they were all so adorable.
Dott and I had to stay on our leashes, but the puppies got to run around all over and explore after they went potty.
Mom and Gracie’s new Lady talked for awhile to get to know each other and to go over some things about Grace. While they were talking, the Lady’s daughter came out and went crazy for the puppies too… What were WE… chopped liver? Actually, they did talk a little about us… Dott especially, as she is the puppies’ mother.
We couldn’t stay for very long as Mom had to get back for a Birthday party and Dad had a church meeting to attend, so we had to say good bye to our new friends, and leave for the long drive back.
Dott was sad to be leaving one of her babies behind, and I think the others were a little, too, as they were very quiet on the way home and ended up sleeping most of the way home.
Since Mom says we are keeping the rest of the little ones, I guess Dott will still have her paws pretty full, and that should help her to keep from getting too depressed. I’m starting to get along all right with the pups now… even playing with them some.
Things are settling down with Sadie a little bit, for those who’ve been asking. She and I are back on pretty good terms, and Dott is back to being more protective like she was when the pups were a lot smaller, but is OK with Sadie for herself.
OC … not so much. OC is sort of pretending Sadie isn’t there except for growling at her when she comes up to her and tries to lick her face and tell her she’s sorry. OC, it turns out, HAD gotten hold of Sadie’s leg and put a couple of puncture holes in it, which is probably why Sadie bit her trying to get her to let go.
The holes were where Sadie could lick them and keep them clean and they are healing well, BUT, as you can see, Mom can’t do ANYTHING with Sadie without OC keeping a close eye on her!

Linda, your posts never fail to make me grin.
Your photos are always so perfect with the story line.
It's like illustrations in a book...
Dott's expressions tells the tale of leaving a babe behind.
Such a good story, thanks for sharing, as always!
sounds like Gracie got a wonderful home! so you are keeping the other three, good for you Linda! are you going to change the other two's names? I bet OC is definitely holding a grudge against Sadie; you know how those corgis are, they seem to never forget anything.
betty
Sure is nice Gracie went to a lovely home!
I guess it will take some time to OC to forgive!
Take care

OC looks a little psycho in that last pic. How is her eye doing?
Two sides to every story, I suppose. Glad to see Sadie is out of the dog house and enjoying the company of some of her family.
Gracie didn't know what was happening. I hope she was not too sad to be left behind in her furever home. It looks like it will be a good place for her.
Slobbers,
Mango
Sounds like Gracie will be in a home that will love her- that is so important!
Tank woo fur the pupdates!
It does look like Gracie got a furry special furever home!
We are glad to see things are improving on the Sadie front too!

We are kinda sad with your post...it's bitter-sweet: On the one hand you have to say good-bye to a pup and on the other hand, the pup is going to a really wonderful home. We so admire the trouble you have taken with your pups - either to keep them or find homes.
...AND thank you too for the picture of the mountains...it's lovely to see where you live.
Take care and lotsalicks

Hey Girl!
You forgot to send me your address! I tried to email you but it came back to my inbox. I thought I would write you to let you know that I didn't get it. I'm so glad to hear that you do have a need for a new pair of scissors! These are soooo cute! I just love mine. I bought mine last year. When I seen them in the store again this year I had to buy more! lol I stocked up so to speak! Actually, you can have your choice between a pair that looks like Rudolph or the Gingerbread Boy. Just let me know which ones you want and I will send those to you!
Hope you are having a great day!
Angela
