Just Waitin’ Around…

Well, at this point, we are just waitin’ around for my Dotter to get down to business. She is due today for sure, and is very antsy and uncomfortable at this point. She keeps shifting her position, and Grammy thinks she is in light labor but not hard labor yet.

She is refusing to eat today, too, which Grammy says is a good sign that things are progressing. Papa says that she will probably wait to start having them until about 2 a.m. in the morning so that it will keep him up all night since he has to go to work early in the morning. Everybody is pretty much just resting today in case we ARE up all night.

I don’t envy her. It’s been a little over 3 years since I had her and her brothers, and it was VERY hard for me. I was so tired that my labor stopped for several hours after having the first five, and Mom thought I was done for the night and went to bed early since she had been up all day, all night, and most of the next day.

Since it was my only batch of puppies, I didn’t know how to take care of them properly myself when the last three girls were born during that second night. I don’t even know if they were alive or not when they were born. I DID clean them up, but they were gone when Mom found them in the morning. All three of them were going to be Black Tri-Colored like my Mama Mist.

I was so worn out that I wasn’t able to make enough food for the ones I DID have, and that is why Mom had to help bottle feed them for the first three weeks, every 3 hours. Dotter isn’t nearly as big as I was, though, and she seems to have a pretty good supply of milk, so Mom hopes that she won’t have to bottle feed these, though she did go to the store and get some formula and a bottle just in case since it is supposed to be a weekend thing.

Mom says that she will Twitter, when she has the chance during the deliveries, so if you are interested, and check in on our blog on the right sidebar, you can check the twitters for updates. Well, keep my uncomfortable Dotter in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks, OC

Last Squirrel Patrol For Me For Awhile... :(

Tuesday, we all went out for squirrel patrol because I begged Grammy really hard. She wasn’t sure I should go out, but I told her I’m fine and she knows that some exercise is good for me, so she said I could go, but this would be the last time for a full squirrel patrol for me for a while. I DON’T think I like the sound of THAT!

We took our usual route, which included a good check of the Old Dart. I got there first, and then ran and told the others that I REALLY felt there was something around there!

The others came and agreed… something was in or around that car!

I even insisted that my Dad open the hood…

I don’t know where it went, but whatever it was, I KNOW it had been hiding there!

We did our check of the ditch and side pasture…

...then headed for the front pasture. Mama OC and Sadie found some yummy fresh horse apples and stopped for a snack on the way.

We checked all the holes and bushes there, and then Grammy said I’d had enough and we needed to head in.

We did go by the water barrels and make sure there weren’t any swimmers. You can never tell when one of the horses will knock out the squirrel ladder and a squirrel will decide to take a chance anyway!

By the way, I checked out that box bed they made for me, and it’s not half bad! Grammy put a big towel over it and made it into my own little cave. I really kind of like it in there now that I’ve scratched it and arranged the blankets the way I like. (Mom says to tell you that it was dark and so the vids from in there had to be lightened…)

The towel can flap down and really make it cozy. Last night, Grammy forgot to put it down, so I got out, grabbed it with my teeth and pulled it shut. I even told everyone else that they had to stay out of my room and AWAY from MY BOX. Grammy told me, though, that I still have to let BG and Mama OC use the ramp in front of it to get on her bed.

MY BOX gives me a little privacy, and I kind of like that, too. Sometimes I wish everyone would quit petting my belly. Grammy pinched me today a little and said I had milk now, and she also said something about dropping and starting to look like I was getting ready in a few other ways too… I hope so, though I don’t FEEL ready to be a Mommy… I just want these little kickers OUT!

Cute Story and an Apology…

Mom got this in one of her emails and it was just so cute that she wanted to share it:

The Jesusita Fire in Santa Barbara, CA this year caused these two to take shelter together. The fawn is about 3 days old and the bobcat about 3 weeks. They immediately bonded and snuggled together under a desk in the Santa Barbara County Dispatch Office for several hours.

Animal Planet is reporting the bobcat kitten was rescued near Arnold Schwarzenegger's ranch, where it was
dehydrated and near death. They rescued the fawn during the wildfire. Although wild animals, especially of separate species, are never placed together due to regulations, in this emergency situation, they had no choice. During the mayhem of the fire, they were forced to put animals anywhere they could, since they had run out of crates large enough for the fawn. The kitten ran to the fawn, and it was instant bonding.

Mom says to apologize to everyone because Dott had written a long post with some vids in it. It will probably be her last post for a while as Mom says she thinks Dott will be to busy to post pretty soon, and either I or Mama OC will be doing it for a while.

The thing is, Mom thinks the computer sound system got unplugged and she can’t be sure what is on the vids and whether to edit the sound out so we don’t get the rest of you all riled up if Mama OC is to loud or something.

Robert has gone to bed and he is the one that will have to crawl under the computer desk to check the plug-ins, so we will have to post it hopefully, tomorrow night because Mom’s got doctor appointments during the day tomorrow. I can get things for Mom from under there, but I can't quite figure out how to plug things in very well... :(

Beware What You Wish For!!

We went to visit this Corgi website: http://winjammin.home.mchsi.com/corgihumor.html and found this joke. It was just to cute not to pass on!!!

Close to an obedience ring at a dog show, a terrier was tossing a small object around. Three alert dogs, a Basset Hound, a Beagle and an Afghan Hound, heard some strange cries and rescued a small creature from the terrier.

It turned out to be a little man dressed in green--one of the wee people.

The leprechaun was grateful for the rescue and decided to grant each of the dogs one wish. The Basset thought long and hard and finally said, "I am about to go into the ring to compete and I am just not built to do the jumps. I would like to be able to jump twice as high as I can now." The leprechaun granted the wish and ZAP, the happy Basset amazed everyone by clearing every jump by at least a foot.

The Beagle was impressed. "I am pretty good at what I understand, but if I had triple my intelligence, I know I would make my owner very proud." The leprechaun granted the wish and ZAP, the Beagle passed without a mistake and even helped the judge add up the score!

The Afghan was really impressed. "There is a rumor--not true of course--that Afghans have only beauty and no brains. I would like to quadruple my intelligence."

"Wow," said the Leprechaun, "Are you sure? If I change your intelligence that much it will change your whole life. You will look at things differently, act differently, nothing will be the same. Are you sure?"

"Will I still be beautiful?" asked the Afghan.

"Yes, I can arrange that."

"Well then, grant my wish."

The Leprechaun granted the wish, and ZAP, the Afghan was turned into a corgi!!

I’m not really sure what is going on with me. They tell me I’m pregnant and going to have puppies, probably this weekend, but I’m not really sure what they are talking about! I don’t even LIKE most of the puppies I’ve met!

All I know is that there is something inside of me that feels like aliens kicking my innards all over creation! I hardly get to sleep a wink!

Everyone thinks it is so cute to feel my tummy, but I’m just getting downright UNCOMFORTABLE! I can’t lay on my tummy anymore, so spend most of my time on my side or back.

I’m starving, and shove everyone out of the way hysterically when the Chicken breast jerky comes out, but Grammy won't get the hint and doesn't give me very much of it. I don’t usually want to eat the DOG FOOD they try to foist off on me. They keep trying to get me to eat just a little bit because it is supposed to have extra vitamins and minerals, but I just keep turning up my nose, until Grammy makes me some good tasting food. The problem is, that THEN she tries to put powdered vitamins in THAT!

AND, do you BELIEVE THIS…. They got a cardboard BOX and put stuff in it to make me a new bed! A BOX!!! … with newspapers, and towels and an ugly brown sheet! Do they actually expect me to sleep in a BOX?!!! I sleep on Dad’s bed, my recliner in his room, my other recliner in the front room, or Grammy’s waterbed! NOT A BOX!!!

After all THAT, they wonder why I’m grumpy!? Where’s my fuzzy…

Mom and I Had a WAR!

ANNOUNCEMENT: First, before I tell my story, I wanted to let everyone in the Oregon area (not sure exactly where in Oregon) know about this Corgi Benefit Walk that a bunch of my anipals were Twittering about. This “Corgi Walk” will benefit an Animal Hospital and a corgi club: “Proceeds from the benefit, which raised $1,530 last year, will go to DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital and the Columbia River Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club.”

Now, on with my story… Mom and I were at WAR for a while this afternoon! Mama OC and Dott got involved after awhile, too. Even Sadie joined in for a little while until Mama OC told her to mind her own business!

I was calmly playing with my Ball n’ Rope, and ran over and pushed it into Mom’s knee. She grabbed it, gave it a jerk, and the WAR WAS ON!

I pulled and jerked, but couldn’t get it away from her for several minutes! She is pretty strong…

I FRAPPED all around the front room in a victory FRAP when I finally got it, then ran back and told her, “SEE I am stronger than you,” but while I was talking, she grabbed it and we battled it out again!

Then, and you probably won’t believe this… she actually tried to give her end to Mama OC who had been yelling on the sidelines! I’m not really sure who she had been rooting for… probably Mom… so maybe they were in “Kahoots!”

As usual, whenever there is a rumble going on lately, Dott had to come over and stick her nose into it…

Mama OC tried to distract her by kissing her face…

When THAT happened, Mom tried to give the rope to HER! What is this ANYWAY!??!! That is MY rope!

Dott finally took it though and started pulling…

After a minute or so, she gave me “THE LOOK!” Now, I ask you… is THAT fair!? I can’t fight a pregnant, moody, LITTLE sister! She’d eat my nose right off my FACE, AND I would end up getting in trouble!!

I guess I lost that battle, but I’ll BE BACK to finish THIS war!

Snicker....

We’ve Got Such Wonderful Friends!

Today, we thought we would talk about some of the wonderful friends that we have made from our blogging!

Our VERY FIRST friend that ever left us a comment was Koda’s Mom, Betty, from A Corgi in Southern California.
She has been a true friend and followed us from the beginning of our time here on Blogger! It was through her encouragement and help that we stuck with it those first weeks of not knowing anyone, etc. She has introduced us to several other friends, and is an inspiration to us all the time.

Of course, who doesn’t know Mango , Dozer , or Khyra? These anipals are wonderful to have as friends, and they are so helpful and uplifting too! You’ll almost always get a smile, though sometimes you’ll find a tear or two, in their blogs as they share and care about so many of their anipals! Mom has been working on pictures of Dozer and Mango (with permission) for the Fair. (Mango's pic wasn't quite done yet when this scan was taken...)

Another two of our long time followers is Classy Chassy from Expressly Corgi, and CorgiDogMama from Corgi Dog News. They have such interesting blogs with various animals, vintage items, creative ideas, and interesting info. They are quiet, soothing, peaceful places to visit... like sitting beside a mountain stream. Mom counts them as really good friends and, of course, they have corgis, too.

By the way, speaking of Corgi Blogs, Gibson’s Mom, Kelly, over at Corgi Butts
is putting together a Corgi Calendar that will feature Corgis with Blogs. She wants people to submit their best Corgi Pics if they are interested in being on the Calendar. Their blog sites will be mentioned and any profits will go to the Lakeshore Corgi Rescue.

Another of our very best friends is Sassy Sasha , and her Mom. Sasha is a Shih Tzu like another of my Mom's sister's dogs, Mia (pictured), only Sasha is nice and we don't get along well with Mia. You should go check out the wonderful unicorn story that Sasha wrote with the help of a bunch of her Dog Bloggin’ friends. It is totally awesome! Wonderful fantasy, love for other animals, adventure, and a great moral!

Sassy and her Mom got the group story idea from another wonderful new friend named Jan Mader. This fun lady has two blogs that are both wonderful to read. Animal Talk,
is about her horse, Tango, her dogs, and other animals that she knows and loves. Her other blog, Ignite to Write , is an awesome blog with lots of fun games for her readers to share in with their comments. “Try it… You’ll Like IT!!!”

Another blog you might like if you like to write poetry and/or short stories and want to post them someplace other than your own blog is at Maya's blog, The (W)riting Room. This young friend is very talented and wants to share her blog with other writers. She lives in Australia. Mom posts some of her poetry and drawings there sometimes.

We’ve got other awesome friends “across the pond,” too! Martha and Bailey Basset are great friends. We love taking the tours of Scotland that they host for us, and Clive the Autism Assistant Dog from Ireland inspires me to do MY best as a helper dog, as he cares for his "Little Man." Their blogs give us a chance to learn about their countries and people. Isn't blogging and finding friends around the world NEAT!

We've got another corgi friend named Benny who recently moved to California from Japan! We’ve got so many friends out there that there is no way to name you all, but we appreciate each and every one of you! Twix, Coco, Tank, Hawk, Cooper Creek Cardigans, Infrared Goggles (and her corgi, Teggy)… the list goes on and on!

We sniffed our way over to see Brutus, our newest blogging friend, today. He is a tough French Bulldog, and he has some neat rescue greyhound friends. He had a video of his ant hunting and so we are awarding him Dott’s Mighty Hunter Award
for ant killing. Congratulations, Mighty Hunter!

Day at the Doctor’s…

Today I got to go with Mom on her appointments in the big town while Dott and Mama OC had to stay home. It was a long drive and I had to wear my Service Dog Pack once we got there, but at least I got to go.

When we got there, Mom pushed a button, a couple of doors slid apart, and we went into a little room. Mom pushed another button and the doors slid shut. Then, and you might not believe this, the room felt like it moved and when the doors slid open, we were in a different place! THAT was really weird!

We walked into a place called an office and I sat under Mom’s chair while we waited for the doctor. It was kind of interesting because there were a lot of different people that came and went. There were even a few kids there. A lot of them looked at me and smiled, but I stayed right where I was supposed to and was very quiet, but my nose, eyes and ears were going full speed!

We waited a long time and then went into another little room where I sat under another chair that Mom sat in. There were only a couple of people that came into that room. The lady liked me. She talked to Mom for awhile and then left and the Doctor came in. He filled out the papers Mom needed, then left for a few minutes. When he came back in, I did one little woof, and he was surprised because he hadn’t even known that I was in there. Mom told me to hush and I did, but he had surprised me when he came in suddenly.

I did everything exactly the way I was supposed to, and Mom said that she was really proud of me. This is the first time that I had gone to an office with her. I was able to pick up a few things for her, and she said I did my job just right.

After we went to her old boss’s office and dropped off the papers, we went to visit the strange lady that Dad calls HIS Auntie. She is VERY old and either Dad or Robert go each week to take her food and money, and to be sure that she is ok. Dad takes care of her bills for her. She is what Mom calls “ick send trick.” We had stopped at an Arby’s to get her some sandwiches, and Mom got one for Robert, her and me to share… Yummy!

When we were done with that visit, we started home, and stopped at a Jack in the Box to get a late lunch. They got me a WHOLE burger, plain, and a glass of water. I also got a bite of Mom’s taco meat. I think I LIKE going with Mom to do my job!

Mama OC was NOT happy when we got home. She yelled at Mom for a good 5 minutes, while Mom tried to talk to her and explain. She really wasn’t in the mood to listen very well. She wasn’t real happy to smell hamburger on my breath, either. Mom finally calmed her down with some chicken jerky, and taking us out to run while the horses ate.

Mom came in and made dinner for Dad and then she cooked up some special food for Dott since she is getting quite picky. It had hamburger, a few chicken livers, rice, broccoli and cheese in it, and Dott scarfed every bit that she was given! Robert said it looked so good that he would eat it except for the chicken livers.

Robert took a few pictures of “his baby’s belly” for you to see.

I don’t think Dott was real happy about that!

They are pretty sure, now, that she is going to be a mother in about a week and a half… Friday or Saturday after next is when they think that will happen.

Well, that was our day… Hope you had a nice day, too!
