Labor and Delivery Vids (Edited)

Mom finally got the chance to edit and clip the vids of the births so that she could share them with you. Robert wasn't "able" to take anything "graphic" anyway, because he had a tendency to run out gagging, so you won't see anything too embarrassing for Dotter, OK?

This first video is of Dott just after her first pup, which we are going to call Gimli was born. He is being named for the feisty dwarf in the Lord of the Rings—remember, Corgis are “dwarf dogs!”

Right away, Dotter started taking care of her little son. My little girl is such a good Mama!

Several minutes later, she started having contractions again. Number two was on her way…

The water broke and we knew an appearance was imminent…

This one is a girl! Dott started taking care of her right away, too.

Then Dotter had two babies to be proud of!

Dottie took some time to check all their little toes, and be sure they were ok...

Sadie wanted to see if her friend was doing ok, so she snuck up to take a peek. Dott watched carefully, and you can hear that I was NOT happy that Sadie was up there and I couldn’t get up there to see, myself!

While checking out the little girl, Mom noticed that there looked like there was an angel with outstretched wings on the back of her neck. Mom wanted to take a closer look at the angel on the back of the neck of the puppy we are calling Mercy… as in Angel of Mercy…

As you can see, I was sitting right beside Mom to be sure that I didn’t miss anything. I was practically GLOWING with pride!

There was over an hour between the first two pups, and the second two puppies, while Dott got a little rest.

But then she got to work on Number 3, and her second son made his appearance. We are going to call him, Kneelicks--- maybe spelled like the Star Trek Voyager cook named Neelix. Have I mentioned Robert is a Star Trek Fan. (Roll eyes!) Still, it sort of fits a corgi’s size…

Now you can see that she has three… Gee, I’m a poet!

Finally, after another long wait, Number 4, another little girl, appeared. Mom was pretty worried about her because she was so blue for several seconds, but she finally took a couple of gasps and got going. She will be called Grace because Mom says she only survived by God’s Grace!

My poor Dotter was quite tired by this time, and rested for an hour or so…

This last video was taken much later that evening, and shows Dott in her box, resting, with all her little ones laying around her. Isn’t the miracle of birth wonderful! (But I’m sure glad I didn’t have to do THAT more than once, and I’ll bet Dott would agree !!!)

I watched all of those movies and I am still a bit confused about where those puppers came from. Were they hiding in the bed? They must have been uncomfortable for you.

Momma says they will start to look like you soon. I certainly hope so. They look kind of funny right now.

Good job, Dott!

Mango

We haven't watched all the videos and will come back later - we are up to Mercy!
We cannot believe how tiny the puppies are. Dott you are so serene sitting there having your puppies.
It all felt very peaceful over here in Scotland - no screaming or gas and air!!!
Just lovely and what a great little mom you are Dott - taking care of your children right away.
love and kisses

Dott, you are such a good Mommy. Your babies are so beautiful. I bet they will be a handful before long, but I can't wait to see more videos. I am glad you are doing ok, you make it all seem quite easy, but I bet it isn't really. You are very brave.

licks and sniffs, Sasha

Dott seems to be such a natural, laid back mama!
She was so calm, and loving right away! Linda, you sure helped her out, and maybe that kept her serene during all that birthing! Four puppies, amazing, in such a tiny ol' Dotter.
Can't wait to see how the pups look in about a week. Your vids were really something. I've never seen anything born before...except my own two, "real" kids! ha.

Wow, Linda! I've never seen a dog let a human help during delivery like that. Of course, I've only been around it a few times, but..wow!

Mango, we don't want to explain things any further for fear of a Relentlessly huge upchuck... :)

All three of our corgis (Mist, OC, and now Dott) have glued themselves to my side for several days before giving birth until afterward when they had to stay with their little ones. Being by me seems to calm them down and all three have had deliveries that could have had problems, like Dott's with the breach births and the last one still inside the sack, so I'm glad that they've felt that way or we wouldn't have nearly as many puppies survive... I still feel bad about not realizing OC had more pups to go...
