NOT FAIR! by Dott

It is NOT FAIR!!!  Weekends are supposed to be spent with US, not off by themselves! Grammy and my Dad (Robert) ended up spending Saturday in the hospital again, while Papa worked, trying to make up for the work time he lost while Grammy was in the hospital earlier this week.

Grammy was NOT sick and is doing fine, but they got a call early Saturday that Papa’s elderly Aunt had fallen and was being taken to the hospital, so my Dad drove Grammy way over to another hospital in the BIG town, and they ended up staying ALL DAY!

My Dad came home in the late evening and… do you BELIEVE THIS!!??!! … he had another DOG with him!  At this point, we didn’t know what had happened, but I was NOT HAPPY, and thought that he had been cheating on me (cheating me out of my time with him and fooling around with another dog instead.)

Neither Mercy nor I wanted to talk to him or look at him for a while, but then he told us what had happened and so we finally decided to forgive him.  I must admit, though that it took a lot of jerky treats to make ME come around and listen to him.

It seems that Auntie had fallen, because she’d had a mild heart attack, and (Grammy says, “Praise God!”) a friend of hers had come over to visit and help her with something and found her on the floor.  The friend “just happened” to have her hubby with her (she’s almost always come alone before, so Grammy said another “Praise God!”) and they were able to get Auntie up, but decided to call for further help.

At this point, they called Grammy.  Auntie has no other family, and Papa takes care of her bills, and makes sure she has food, etc., so that’s why they called.  I guess it took the doctors a LONG time to figure out some of the things that were wrong, but they finally told Grammy and Robert that Auntie would have to stay for a while.

Grammy decided that Auntie’s little dog, Saint Happiness (Happy), would have to come and live with us for a while.  Papa had just gotten Happy from the SPCA about 3 weeks ago, after he had gone for some "tutoring," a few weeks after Auntie’s last dog, Lexie, had taken the Rainbow Bridge.  He was older than they usually keep and wasn't going to be there much longer.  (Yes... he has a shaved "tummy," too...)

Of course, after I found all this out, I decided that I probably should be a bit more accepting, because poor Happy is, again, NOT happy, and he’s already had a kind of hard life for only being 5-6 years old.

He’s not too bad, and Gimli really likes him.  They play together a lot!  He is hoping that his Newish Mom will get well and take him home again someday.  Grammy and Papa (who had gone over after work) didn’t get home until after 1 a.m. because they had stayed until Auntie got taken out of the “Emerge auntie’s Room,” and put into a regular room.

They went back over there again today, and my Dad and his brother, Manuel, are going over all day tomorrow to work on her house, as she has sort of not been able to do a lot lately, but didn’t want anyone to help her.  IF she can come home, she will have to have someone come in to help her regularly.  Please keep Happy’s mom (Papa’s Auntie) in your thoughts and prayers.

P.S. Grammy IS (at this point) planning to post a “Miss Mercy Monday Mystery” at 5 p.m. this afternoon unless something else bad comes up, and you will have 24 hours from then to comment with your answer/s...

You be nice to Happy, now. He is going to be feeling confused and scared. He might "act out" but that is something you will need to be patient with. No time to act like a princess.

Praise God doesn't quite cover the many blessings Auntie got! And you are such a good cousin to take in Happy! We know that you will give Happy a nice time and remember these are the times that help us "get our jewels in our crown in Heaven" - not that you need any more! We'll keep Auntie in our prayers for continued healing. Would you please look after your Mum and Dad for us as well?

so glad Linda that you all can help out Auntie during this time of her hospitalization and that Happy is at a good home with all your pups. I'm sure this is all confusing for him too to try to figure out all the changes in his life these recent days

praying Auntie will make a speedy recovery and will be able to live independently again; it is hard when they are elderly and decisions need to be made about where they live, how they are taken care for, etc.

Sorry to hear about Auntie but it sounds like the angels were sure lined up to help this weekend! I am glad Happy has a place to stay in the mean time. That is a lot of adjusting for an older guy, but it really helps that you pups make him feel welcome!
I hope Auntie is better fast and that her transition to new living arrangements go smoothly. I know that independent people sometimes have trouble with that.
Hugs all around pups!

You could have started by telling us Grammy was okay! However, I'm very sorry for Auntie. I'm glad Happy is staying with you. A few more treats and you'll become BFFs :)

I hope that Happy's mom gets to come home from the hospital soon! Happy looks a little like a corgi with the bonus tail! Cute! He is so lucky to get to stay with all of your corgi's.

Prayers for a fast recovery!
