Horrible Hormones!

Tempers are flaring around here! There is a hormonal STORM going on! It is weird how when ONE dog gets “heated up,” the others all go into hormone OVERDRIVE! Mom says she knows where they get the name they tend to call female dogs from!!!

I don’t think the heat (weather) helps much either, and neither does having to be cooped up separately so we can’t go out and run at will. Robert has to go out every hour to pump water from the barrels in the truck up to the top of the house to the big cooler. (For those that don't know, our water line has been broken for 4 months now) We are so thankful that we got a new water pump over the weekend.

Robert lets us (all of us, but Doug) go out with him so we can run for a few minutes, etc. then, but a couple of times today, the neighbor dogs came out yelling, so we had to come right in because we were ready to lay into them!

Doug was supposed to be leaving today, only there was a snag. The shelter where he was supposed to go, has had a Parvo outbreak and isn’t taking any more dogs right now for the next two weeks, and then they have to have had their shots. Mom called her sister and explained the problem that’s going on around here, and they are trying to figure out something. She DEFINITELY doesn’t want ANY accidents with Mama OC… it was bad enough that Dott snuck out!

Mom feels so bad that “poor old Doug” as she calls him, has to stay separated from everyone else because we, corgis are such social creatures. She makes sure to go into the kitchen every once in a while just to give him some “loving.” Hurmph! He also goes out with us when we run in the pasture, but he has to stay on the long, 50 foot lead Mom has.

Dott is picking fights with both Mama OC AND Auntie Sadie, and Mama OC is picking fights with Auntie Sadie. Sadie is trying hard to keep her temper, but lets out a growl every once in a while when they get to nasty, and THAT gets Robert upset because he doesn’t want her to hurt Dott as she is “so little!”

Whenever the “N Word” (No) comes up, and it has a lot, Dottie goes into her “chi shivers” as Robert calls them and then goes and THROWS herself down in her recliner with a big sigh and pouts (for about 20 mins.). The water spray bottle is getting a lot of use too, and so are bedroom “time outs.”

I’m trying to stay out of everyone’s way, but Dott keeps coming over and dancing in my face… she is SO confusing to me! Lately, Mom is dancing around me too! I have NO CLUE as to what their problem is!
Dott plans to ask Mom what some of your comments about “puppers” was about… they sounded ominous!

(Dott yelling in background: “ARE YOU KIDDING! TELL ME YOU ARE KIDDING!!!”)

I am sorry you are having such a bad time of things try to be strong my friends. I don't know what that parvo thing is but it doesn't sound good to me. I am very familiar with the water bottle and I have been at the wrong end of it many times. I hope things get better soon.

Parvo is not a good thing! My sister adopted a puppy at a local shelter. It had to be spayed before she could bring it home. When she got it home it started throwing up. Had to take it to the vet. Parvo! Stayed at vet's office for 2 days $300. Came home had the runs. She had to put clorox all over her yard. Then about 2 days later it started coughing. Went to vet. Kennel Cough. Had to get medicine for that also.

Between that story and another story that is too long to post that my cousin went through with the animal shelter dogs. I don't think I'll ever be able to rescue one from there. I just can't go through that. My sister asked the vet if she should call the shelter to let them know about the parvo and he said they already know. So they adopted out a puppy to a person with a small kid to let them go through all of that???

Hope all of your hormonal dogs get back to normal real soon!!! Both of my girls have been spayed so we don't have to worry about things like that.

Happy 4th of July!!!

Parvo outbreak? That's bad news!!
If Dott and Doug come up missing, you'll find 'em in the sugar bowl hugging and kissing! Look out!

Oh no Dott. Does this mean your gonna have puppers? I was fixed before Mona got me and I don't have to sorry about stuff like that.

It was 106 here yesterday. I'm in the country visiting Darshies Rule for 4 days and the Mommy won't let us out right now because of the heat.

Jave a nice 4th of July.

Sorry it's rough, but your photos and story are so charming! Finding a place to board is heavy stuff, I hope all of that works out.

I have a female chiawhowa is has Parvo, the vet said she is one of six cases in Oceano, CA. She is having a rough time still not eating but drinking water and taking antibiotics. Please pray for my dog may she recover well or pass quickly and painless as possible.

I am praying, Dear Chihuahua owner, for your baby's health and quick recovery and that she may have be out of pain very soon. I ask these things in Jesus Name... Amen!
