OC Notes on This Camping Trip

Hi, all you tail wagers and blogging pooches! I’ve let the pups do a lot of my blogging for me lately, as this winter has really gotten me down, but I thought I’d put in a few things about our camping trip, too, after reading what the pups wrote.

Out here in Corgi Country we get a lot of freedom to do our own thing, and are a little spoiled by it all. I’d much rather get a chance to go with Mom and Dad and enjoy their company, even though I do have to wear a leash, than to stay home.

Sometimes rules can be a good thing, which young pups don’t tend to understand until they mature a little. There were some pretty undisciplined dogs out there that could have hurt us if they had not had to wear a collar and leash, so sometimes we have to put up with tighter restrictions because others, or their owners, can’t, or don’t discipline themselves. People enjoy dogs better if they are well mannered, and that is better for everyone, including the dog. That's always been mom's philosophy for both dogs and kids.

Obviously, it would have been best if the rules about being quiet after 10 p.m. would have been enforced because all of us would have been able to get more sleep, too. Mom was a little disappointed at the way some people were so disrespectful to others, but we also met some really nice people and dogs there.

One family, with three little kids, were there having a last fun weekend with their young father who is having to go to a war somewhere in a couple of weeks. I heard Mom telling Dad that they needed to pray for them even though we didn’t find out their names because God knows who they are. She said it is people like that, that are willing to lay their lives on the line for us that make this world a good place to live in.

At least the pups got to see a bit more of the world than they usually do, experience some new things and hopefully, learn some things. That is going to be important to them, and especially to BG as he learns to be a helper dog so that he can take over my job more and more. I am pretty proud of my pups, and they are growing up to be decently trained and will make me proud.

We're finally hooked up to the wonderful Internet again, so now I'll have to catch up on what my favourite family of corgis has been up to!

Great to hear it! I'm off of facebook for awhile, but I need to get over to your blog too, and now I will have more time to keep up with my blogging friends.
