Camping is FUN!!!

We had a WONDERFUL time camping in our new Trailer this past weekend! I got to go, along with BG, Gimli, and Pippin.

GrandPaw Robert had put the camper shell on the pickup and they put our foam mattress into the bed for me and Gimli to lay on during the trip. We got a BIG SURPRISE when we found out that Grammy’s Kody Bear was getting to go with us because it was his parent’s wedding anniversary.

Grammy’s sister and BIL brought their trailer and their Shih-Tzu puppy, I-Lee, and had the campsite right next to us. They also brought two of their grand-daughters which get along wonderfully with Kody, so they really had a blast!

We were right on the river and had the last two campsites on that side, so no noisy neighbors.

Our people had most of their meals together. They always carried me over there with them, too.

It has warmed up quite a bit this past week and so the weather was absolutely PERFECT! It was in the low 70’s… not to warm and not to cold.

I got to lay out in the sun ALL DAY instead of having to stay inside on my pillow!

I could roll in the grass and pee when I wanted, without having to wait for someone to take me out!

And I could watch when Papa took the boys for a walk. It was WONDERFUL, and Grammy said I smiled all day long!

I didn’t have to stay on a leash because I can’t move on my own, but that is the one thing the pups weren’t very happy about. They DID have to have a leash on whenever they came out of the trailer. Still, they LOVED having actual GRASS to run around and roll in!!! Grammy had taken a 50 ft. long lead to give them plenty of room to roam.

Gimli liked watching everyone and watching the river with the ducks swimming around on it.

Saturday, there was a “Fishing Derby” for the kids until 4 p.m. and then anyone could fish in the big pond where they had planted the fish. The kids had fun trying to catch something, but no luck.  :(  Kody was pretty disappointed.

But Pip and BG had fun watching, and Pip almost dug a gopher out of a hole!

I-Lee was content to just stay near her Mama while she fished. She’s about 5-6 months old now, and is a pretty laid back pup.

The only problem came when BG was able to get under Papa’s chair and grab Gimli by the ear again, shredding the end of it and making it bleed all over.

They ended up being tied on a line that ran from one tree to the other, only made so they couldn’t get near each other.

The trailer was really great too! It is so roomy because it has a “pull out” in one side.

Pippin enjoyed laying in Grammy’s bed when Papa was in the trailer, except at night of course, when he slept with Papa and BG in the BIG bed. Grammy has to sleep almost sitting up because of her breathing, so she had to make up a bed that would let her do that.

Papa made Grammy a wonderful omelet for breakfast on Sunday morning, while her sister and BIL took the kids out fishing again… (still no luck for them, though.) It had kielbasa, bacon, cheese, onions, sweet peppers and celery in it. It was so pretty and she said it tasted GREAT, too! (I thought so too, but she only shared a little taste… :(

We felt bad for Dott and Mercy because they didn’t get to go. They weren’t happy about it either, but we already had to many dogs that went, and the ranger said only two next time… :(

Super Saturday…

Boy, did we have a wonderful, busy day, Saturday. We took off for a long old road trip! Dad wanted to go check out some campgrounds a ways up our highway, and Mom wanted to go to the beach. All three of us got to go with them!

It’s really dried out, so there weren’t very many flowers on the hillsides anymore, but there were a few little purple ones that Mom tried to take a picture of.

We saw a roadrunner… and a Red-tailed hawk with a snake in it’s claws!

We got to a place where a lot of people ride motorcycles and ATV’s, and went into the mountains there to check out the campgrounds.

Mom and Dad let us run around a little there, and gave us some water. We made sure to leave pee-mail...

There was a tree by the side of the road and Mom decided to let Dott pose in it because it sort of looked like a crooked heart.

After we got back to the road, we drove on …and on... and on… seemed like forever, but we finally got near the ocean.

Dad stopped and got us all some lunch at McDonald’s, and we went on down to the beach to eat.

After lunch, we went out to the water. Dad seemed to like walking in the water, and I went with him, but that is really weird water and comes up after you!

Dott was NOT a happy camper to have the water chasing her! Mama OC waded a little, but the water almost knocked her down, so Mom brought her back up to the truck.

We walked around for awhile and checked out the interesting sniffs in the sand…

And then got back into the truck to head home. We had just gotten off of the beach when Robert called and said that Manuel, another of Mom's sons (and my first owner) had called and was at the beach we’d just left.

We called his cell and then turned around and went back to spend some time with him and my first little mistresses.

I still love my first Master, too, and always wiggle all over when I see him, though I wouldn’t leave Dad…

He has just gotten himself and the kids a little half- Mango type dog (Mastiff). The pup is about the same size as I am and he is a little over 3 months old!!!

We visited a little while, and then left and went to McDonald’s again for dinner which we ate in the truck while driving home. We got home quite late, but it was a GREAT day!!!

Camping Album

Mom appologizes for the pics being a bit fuzzy. She was using an OLD camera, and OLD film.

Here's mama, me and Dad relaxing after breakfast while we were waiting for Dott and Robert to get there.

Finally, Dotty arrived.

and then she convinced everyone that she NEEDED to see the river...

After that, she talked everyone into going down to the Lake.

I had been before, remember, so I waded right in to Dad.

I talked and talked to her about going in, but she wasn't sure...

I finally gave up and just demonstrated by going out to Dad while Dott watched.

Dott finally got up enough nerve to go out when her Master tempted her with some jerky treats.

Once the ice was broken, so to speak, she ventured out with me a couple of times.

When she came back out, they thought she was rolling to dry herself off, but that is when she had found the new perfume she wanted to try on, so, her master took her out and made her take a bath.

I thought I saw one of those fish they had talked about and went out to try to grab it, but it turned out to be a leaf instead.

After that, they all thought we should take a little walk to dry off a bit so we could go back to camp, and that is when Dotty found the second batch of perfume... After THAT bath, they hustled us all into the car and took us back to camp.
