And the GABE Winner is…

I finally decided that BG had slept long enough, and woke him up late this afternoon. He had said that HE wanted to do the picking of the winner from the GABE contestants. I think that he was really hoping he’d be able to pick his sweetie, Lorenza’s, name from the eligible names.

Here is the list of names with me checking them to be sure that all of them got written down…

Contestant’s names scattered and ready to be picked through for the winner…

And the Winner is…

Grammy just noticed that this post is our 250th post for this blog!  It really snuck up on us.  We decided to go back to our first blog and check who our very first commenter was, and found out that it was Betty and Koda from A Corgi in Southern California!  She has been a regular follower from that very first blog post on December 21, 2008,  AND has commented on every post we've written, so we are going to send her a Little Dott Book, too!

We've had a lot of friends that have been with us for almost as long, like Dozer and Corgidogmama, and we really appreciate everyone's support since we started.

Date Night… By BG

Dott and I had such a wonderful time at Twix’s Date Night! We had lots of good food, got to meet with so many of our bloggy furiends, and got a chance to get to know our wonderful dates so much better!

First we went our separate ways to meet with our dates. I took my beautiful Mexican Senorita a rose and wore a red bowtie to match her dress. She had told me the color of her dress so that I could co-ordinate. She was a little shy at first when she saw the rose, and has the cutest blush!

Soon we were off to Twix’s place where we met up with Dott and Bender. I must say, I was proud of my little sister! She was really cute, and Bender had also coordinated his outfit with hers (She’d told him where to look on the web to see what her dress would look like). She told me later that she about swooned when she saw how handsome he looked, and HE said she just took his breath away!

There were just SO MANY of our friends there that we knew from their blogs, but had never met in person. It was almost overwhelming! In Part 2 of Date Night, Twix made arrangements to take us to a “Secret” location for the actual party. She’d gotten a whole FLEET of limos to take us all!

We ended up at this most awesome CASTLE!!!

Guess who welcomed us?!? Our wonderful friends, Martha and Bailey Basset AND the Great Mr. Mango, himself!

There were all kinds of food there, too! Crab cakes, shrimp dips, Pizza, Sausages, Cheesecakes… Twix had an AWESOME caterer!!!

The music was great for dancing, but VERY LOUD and with so many doggies having such a good time, I could hardly hear Lorenza when she was talking to me!

We had such a GREAT time, over all, and got in really early in the morning, so I’m going to go to bed now. I will draw the winner of our GABE give-away later on today and post it this evening, OK…zzzzz…

Getting Ready for Date Night…

We got our outfits in today and have them hanging up all ready to get into for tomorrow night’s big Date Night at Twix's. We can hardly wait! Both BG and I are so excited, but also kind of shy. We haven’t ever met either of our dates in person before, but we’ve become great friends online!

Here is a picture of the dress being modeled, that I chose to wear… I tried it on, and my Dad says that I really look good in it. I hope that Bender will think so too, when he sees me…

Here is BG’s Tux, hanging up and ready to go… He thinks the neck is a bit tight, but he really wants to look good for Lorenza, so he’s going to wear it anyway. He also got a flower to give her.

The pups are all bummed that they are too young to go…

Grammy gave all of us some treats so that they would feel better about it!

But they are still pouting about it.

My tummy had so many butterflies in it that I was wondering if I was getting sick, but Papa had a talk with me and we figured out that it WAS just nerves and I was NOT getting sick!

Well… Wish us luck! BG and I are going to go out for a run to see if we can get rid of some of this excess nervous energy!

Maybe we’ll even find a bird to chase!

We Got Another Email from Poppi’s New Mom…

AJ:  Just wanted to share with you a photo I took of Poppi. He never really paid any attention to the iguana until we got ready to clean its cage yesterday. This photo shows my hubby trying to catch Rex the Iguana and Poppi peeking at it. He growls and barks at him when we pay any attention to Rex. LOL. If we are sitting on the couch, we ask Poppi what is that? We point at the aquarium and he growls at it and jumps over to our lap like we aren’t allowed to mention it. LOL

He also loves Tug of War! My hubby found a soft rope and tied knots on it. He grabs the end and we play tug of war and he loves it! We are enjoying him so much and he loves the kids! Will send more pics when more are taken for you to share on your blog!

We are so very happy to hear such good news.  It really looks like it is going to work out for Poppi at his new place and he will have a wonderful Forever Home with people that really love him and can give him the one on one attention the little guy needs!  HURRAY from us, and Grammy says,  Praise God for another answered prayer!

We had SEVEN Winners ...

WOW! We had SEVEN winners in this week’s Miss Mercy Monday Mystery Contest, and they will all have their names in the Corgi Toss after MMMM #5. The seven winners were:
1. Mayzie from her Mayzie Gal Blog,
2. Candy, Captain & their Mom, Martine from I Need a Sugar Fix,
3. Bender & Rachel from Bender the Adventure Dog
4. Lorenza from El Diario de Lorenza
5. Khyra from Khyra’s Khorner
6. Koda & Betty from A Corgi in Southern California
7. Foster Dog Mom from the blog, Foster Dog Mom

All of these friends will be added to the Winners of MMMM#3, which were Mango, Koda & Betty, and Bender & Rachel, AND the Winner of MMMM#4, which was Bender & Rachel. Here is the badge for this week’s winners…

We will be having one more Miss Mercy Monday Mystery and then have the Grand Prize drawing from the names of all the winners of our little game. Good luck to you all, our friends.

Grammy has been snapping away with her new camera, and since she has been rather busy (and says she will be for a while) with helping to get Papa’s Auntie’s things put in order, we will probably be posting mostly pictures, and let THEM do the story telling mostly for a while.

Look at what was up on the hill behind our side pasture! With the new camera, GrandPaw could take some good pictures with the zoom before they ran off!

It’s NOT FAIR that we aren’t allowed out to help chase them off! We yell at them, but they just ignore us! How RUDE is that!

And Grammy was so pleased with the view she had from the front steps after the big storm cleaned out the air!

It was so clear that she could see the valley through the break in the hills straight down our driveway!

Pippin thinks he is a parrot!

BG: Still thinking about Date Night, and what fun Lorenza and I will have…

Dott: Mmm… what am I going to wear for Date Night?

Gimli: Peek a Boo… I SEE you!

OC: Well… See you all the next time!

Date Night, Other News, and Miss Mercy Monday Mystery #4.5

OC: I don’t know how many of you get the follow-up comments from these blog posts, but this was one of them…

Bender’s Mom, Rachel, to Dott: If Dott doesn't have a date Bender would love to accompany her. He's never been on a real date and he's a little shy.

As Matriarch of the Country Corgi Crew, I wrote back to Bender’s Mom:

Letter to Bender’s Mom from Mama OC… My Dotter was totally excited about Bender's asking her for a date! She thinks he is a real hunk! She ran right away to talk to her Dad (Robert) about it. He told her that Bender looked like a nice guy, but that he'd better be a gentledog while around his Dotter, and that he would be waiting up after their date because he had to clean his gun that night... :o) (His brother says that’s what he’s going to tell his daughter’s boyfriends when she gets old enough to date…) He still remembers her "Date" with Doug and how we ended up with Pups....

Uh Oh... IF you are new this might be news to you, and now Dott's embarrassed and hopes Bender will still want to take her. She was very young and didn't know any better, and now she's been "sprayed" so isn't interested in that type of relationship anymore!

Not only did Dott get a date with Bender, but BG’s little Sweetie, one of the best dressed Doxie’s in Mexico, Lorenza, consented to be his date and so HE’s pretty happy too! They can hardly wait, and really want to thank Twix again for hosting this soirée! You can go HERE to find out more about Date Night at Twix’s!

We’ve also gotten so many new friends through GABE (the Global Animal Blogging Event) and have entered a bunch of their prize drawings. We have 17 people entered for our drawing already, too! If you haven’t entered our drawing yet, go HERE for our GABE post so you can add your comment to get a chance to win.

Meanwhile, Grammy is terribly excited because she got to go with Papa (we had to stay home… ) to a big Liquidation Sale (which means they sold things really cheap and NOT that they sold things to drink) and she got a new camera! It takes really great pictures and even when we are moving pretty fast, they aren’t blurry! That’s a GOOD thing around us, and she can hardly wait to get a chance to start posting some of her new pictures and take a LOT more!

She took a few pictures at the place they went to eat. We could hardly believe what we SAW!!! It was a place called “Coconut Joes” and there was a truck out front of it with a HUGE SHARK on it! Grammy says it wasn’t real, but those pictures…. I don’t know…

BG: Another thing that happened this weekend was that Grammy may have found a good, loving home for Poppi. He has gone for a visit to see how things work out. They really seem to like him, and his “Maybe Mom” wrote Grammy a couple of emails and sent us some pictures. They wanted a little dog that would be inside with them and liked to snuggle. They don’t have any other dogs now as their old one took the Rainbow bridge, and the last one they had was stolen, so their little daughter was pretty heart-broken. Poppi seems to be getting along with her really well, too, so far.

Grammy asked if we could post and the lady gave her permission. Here is the first email we got:

I just wanted to send you some photos. Poppi wouldn't get on the couch until about 5pm. He finally thought it was safe I guess. Attached are 2 pictures of him on the couch. The first one is him lounging with Hubby and Daughter, and the other one shows him asleep with Hubby. Poppi already loves the spoiling.

The second email said: Go ahead and post them! (In answer to Grammy’s question) He is taking to being spoiled! He even pushed me out of bed this morning so he could have my pillow! LOL He loves chasing the cat away and then he comes prancing over to us like he is the big dog in the neighborhood! LOL

Grammy is really happy about this, and we are, kind of, too. There was just to many of US and not enough hands to pet us all, so some of us got a bit jealous and there were a few … um… disagreements… shall we say. Gimli has a bite on his ear, Pippin has a big scab on his nose, Mercy has a small scratch under her eye, Poppi got a pretty bad cut under HIS eye, and Sadie got a bite on her leg. BG is limping on that hind leg again, and OC might have gotten bumped or something on her other eye. It was swollen the next day and has been running a bit like its irritated, though Grammy has checked it thoroughly and it’s not red and the swelling went down right away.

Poor Poppi didn’t start any of it. He just happened to be right where a couple of others were when Grammy moved her chair back and probably pinched someone, who yelped and then the fuss was on! Can we help it if we all like to gather around Grammy’s feet? Now, she’s making us all lay down in different areas and only one of us (OC or Gimli) gets to lay on her feet. She tries to have OC stay on one of the new doggy beds she got this weekend and puts close to her. She says it’s better for OC than laying on the hard wood floor anyway!

Mercy: And, last but not least… Here is my Miss Mercy Monday Mystery question: When you click the link to go to Twinkie’s GABE info, who’s blog is listed fourth. You can tell me the name of the Doggy, or the name of the blog.

The Mystery’s are posted on Monday afternoons, and the answers need to be in by Tuesday evening, before 9 p.m. PST. You have a little over 24 hours to figure out the mystery and write a comment with your answer on this blog.

Everyone who has the correct answer/s will be awarded a Miss Mercy Mystery badge (See the side bar), and have their name entered in the Corgi Toss that we will have at the end of MMMM #5.

BG will choose the winner from all the names in that Corgi Toss, and they will receive their choice of either one of Little Dott’s Books, Little Dott Finds a Home (Click the title to read a preview of the first few pages)

OR a $20 Gift Certificate to our Country Corgi CafePress Store where you can pick from a BIG selection of designs and items. Here are just a couple…

Good luck everyone, and happy sleuthing!
