We Got TREATS! by Gimli

We got a box in the mail a few days ago! It had some really GOOD smells coming from it!

We could hardly wait for Grammy to open it for us after we read that it was from our friend Palette and her Mom, Yassy, who makes some WONDERFUL dog treats! She also has other dog treats that she doesn’t make herself, but that Palette “taste tests,” and she sells them from her online Website, Yassy’s Gourmet Dog Kitchen.

Grammy had ordered a Moose Antler for us to chew on this time! We’ve LOVED the deer antlers, we’ve gotten from them before, and they last a LONG time, so Grammy loves them too!

When she found out they had Moose Antlers, she decided to get one to see if they last a long time too, and if we would like THEM. Well, DUH!

NOW, this week, we found out they also have Caribou Antlers, and Grammy says she wants to try to get some of them too, next time. We got a “Coupon code” (AUGLB) that is good for 10% off all the way up to Oct. 24th of this year. Yassy also sent a couple of extra treats like she usually puts in her orders. We got a Lamb Trachea AND some Buffalo Liver cookies!

They said we could share the code with our furiends and they also have a GDK’s circle of Furiends reward program on their store menu where you can even get more off! This is really great because Grammy also got us some “Surf and Turf Jerky” that Yassy makes from wild caught salmon and Buffalo meat. THAT was SO GOOD!!! Some of us were drooling before she was able to give each of us a piece!

We are sharing about our wonderful treats too, because we are joining Sugar the Golden Retriever’s Tasty Tuesday Blog Hop. Her Mom also makes some wonderful dog treats that we’ve gotten before and loved!  These were Apple Bites...

This Blog Hop goes through September 8th. There’s even a prize! You can find out more about it HERE

You should join in if you’ve got a post about some kind of doggie treat your Mom gets for you! Now, I’m going back to my moose antler!

Twinkie’s Tongue Contest by BG

Grammy got a lot of pictures to share their Anniversary Trip with you, but that will have to wait until the next time, because we have to get our entries in for Twinkie Tinydog’s Tongue Contest.  Twinkie is hosting a Pet Photo Contest in honor of National Dog Week, and she wants everyone to:

SHOW US YOUR TONGUE

I get to host this post because they DIDN’T take me on their trip! (Which STUNK!!!) Anyway, here goes! This is my best tongue shot. What do you think, Twink? Gee, I’m a poet and didn’t know it! I am BG, and I’m a 4 year old Chorgi (Corgi/Chihuahua/Doxie Mix).

Here is my sister, Dorothy Joy Wigglebottom with her BIGGEST smiley face after a rabbit chase. She is the same age/breed as I am cause we were from the same batch of puppies.

This is my Mama, OC (Ornery Cuss) and her big smiley face after doing squirrel patrol in our side pasture a couple of years ago.

Now for the Pups. Actually, these guys and their sister are a whole year old now, so I suppose they aren’t, technically, pups, but they are still young whipper snappers to me! I am listing them in birth order, oldest to youngest:

These of Gimli and Mercy were taken after they had been running the Obstacle course in our back yard:
Gimli:  (Awww… come on, Unca Beeg… NOT the big NOSE picture!!!  How embarrassing!)
Mercy: (Thanks, Uncle BG, for show off one of my pretty posing pictures!  Blinks her big eyes...)

And, last but not least, our little Pippin, MY protégé! BIG old yawn!
Pippin:  (Is this big enough, Unca Beeg... Is it?  IS IT!?)

Well, Twinkie... What do you think?

Finally! Pippen’s Peek at the Past #5…

It’s FINALLY here! The last Pippin’s Peek at the Past Puzzle! This is the big one because once we get the winners from this puzzle, we will be able to put all of our winner’s into a Corgi Toss, and one of us will choose to see who gets the GRAND PRIZE!

Since so many of you played the Name Game this past week, I thought I’d take you back to August of last year for the Name Game that one of our little friends hosted then.

In that post, Grandma OC told how she, Uncle BG and Mama Dott got their names. We, pups, hadn’t come along yet, though there were suspicions that we were on the way.

Before I get to the questions, though, I thought I’d remind everyone how me and my sibs got our names. First, Gimli, since he was first born. His name comes from the Dwarf that was in the movie called “The Lord of the Rings.” Corgis are called Dwarf Dogs by some, and so GrandPaw Robert, who is a big Sci-Fi nut… uh… fan… thought that would be a good name for him.

When Grammy decided to keep him, she almost changed his name to either Oreo or Panda, but she finally decided to keep the name he was used to. She sometimes calls him Gim, Gimmers, or Gim-er-lee when she’s playing with him. Papa calls him Pest, or GETDOWN You Big Oaf! He does that mainly when Gim runs, jumps and lands right on his belly.  GrandPaw Robert calls him Gimbo or Gimbo-lya.

GrandPaw Robert had named Mercy her name when she was born because she looked (and still does look) like she had a white “angel” marking on the back of her neck and he wanted to name the girls Mercy and Grace (which he did.) She had the “Angel of Mercy” on her so she got the name Mercy. (She sure doesn’t act like an angel, though. She’s got an awful temper. Grammy says she's a born Alpha with no where to put it…)

Grammy shortens it to Merc(ss) sometimes and usually just calls her “MercyMe,” though there are times she calls her “Miss Witch.” Papa calls her “MOVE,” or “Get-outa-my face!” when he’s trying to read, and a few other things when she jumps on him to wake him up on Saturdays when he doesn’t have to work.

I was originally called Neelix by GrandPaw. This was a character in Star Trek AND corgis are only knee high so they often lick you on the knees. When Papa decided to keep me, though, HE named me Pippin which was the name of a small shoulder riding dragon in one of his favorite Sci-Fi Series. It also means a very little thing, which I am, compared to Mercy and Gimli, because I took after my Mama Dott’s size. He also calls me Pip-pip, Pipper, or Pippy-puppy.

Grammy tends to call me Pippy, PIP-en, Peep-in, or Pee-pen. GrandPaw calls me, Pippy, Pippy-Pup and sometimes, Pip-squeak or Squeaker.

Here are the questions for this week’s “Peek at the Past”:

1. Who hosted/started LAST year’s Name Game? _________
2. What does “OC” stand for ? (Either one will work) ________
3. What is another of Uncle BG’s names? ____________
4. What is another of Mama Dott’s names? ________
5. What is another of Auntie Sadie’s names? ________

For new readers/players, here are the rules: There will be 5 sessions, (this is the 5th, and last, one) and the winners who answer all questions in each puzzle correctly, will each get a Badge to display for the weekly wins. At the end of the 5 sessions, all of the winner’s names will be put into a Corgi Toss and the Grand Prize Winner will be chosen.

The Grand Prize Winner will get their choice of one of two prizes…

2. A $15 Gift Certificate to our Country Corgi CafePress Shop (We’ve added a LOT of new designs – here are a few…)

AND

A $10 donation in your name to the Unity Thrift and Outreach Dog Rescue that Grammy’s Sister works with. They take around 50 dogs and puppies to no-kill shelters on the coast in various cities every month (over 1,000 dogs saved already) and have helped pay for over 400 spays/neuters this past year! They helped Grammy and Robert pay for Mama Dott & Mercy’s spays, and Gimli & my neuters…

The following link is to a Newspaper Article about Linda Hodges (Trixie) and Unity Thrift and Outreach if you’d like to know more.  (Auntie Naunie is just to Mrs. Hodges right, in the purplish blue top.) They also have a Facebook Page.

Remember, too, that I put on comment moderation during the game so that everyone has an equal chance of coming up with the answers. I will moderate and show the comments after Midnight on Thursday, so you have until then to get in your guesses for this week’s contest! Good Luck, Everyone!

Wu Names…

Grammy:  We went to this place that Dozer from Our Life: Dozer and Cooper suggested and put in our names to see what our “Wu Names” would be and here are the results:

This is SO FUNNY!  We are as follows:

Dott = The Prickly Comedian: Dott is always making her dad laugh at her antics, but she's a little witch to us!

BG= Loose-Lipped Controller: BG is trying his best to control all the loose tempers from "teen-aged male corgis" that are due for some "tutoring," and menopausal females that just got "sprayed."

OC = Crafty Barnardo:  OC is always trying to be sneaky and start a fight with Sadie like some kind of Mafioso

Gimli = Victorian Cow:  Everyone is saying how BIG he is getting, but he is so laid back (except around Pip), and Robert often calls him a big cow (like when he won't move...)

Pippin = Sullen Choirboy:  THAT FITS HIM TO A T!!!  He is always sulking around until his Papa comes home, and yet he acts so innocent... unless he's picking a fight with Gimli... (WHO... Me?)

Mercy = Action-Packed Mentallist:  Mercy's Wu Name is also right on track!  She jumps right in to any fusses and is always glaring at the others like she's trying to hypnotize them into doing what she wants...  Hysterical!!!!

This is so funny! If you want to try it, go HERE!

FINALLY! Miss Mercy Monday Mystery #5

Today I get to post Miss Mercy Monday Mystery #5! THIS is the one everyone has been waiting for because after we get the winners from THIS post, we will have the BIG Corgi Toss to find out who will win the GRAND PRIZE for this set of MMMM’s.

SO FAR, we have Mango with 1 chance, Betty and Koda with 2 chances, Rachel and Bender with 3 chances, and MayzieGal, Lorenza, Khyra, Dog Foster Mom, and Martine ( Candy & Captain) with one chance each. (By the way, congratulations Candy, Captain, Martine & Daddy on the new brother, Pierce, that was born this last week!) Here is the last MMMM Badge.

Let’s see who adds chances and/or new names to our list of winners this time, that will go into the Grand Prize Corgi Toss!

This weeks Miss Mercy Monday Mystery takes us back in time to January when my two brothers, and Uncle BG (Grandma OC was “gone” to Mango’s mansion as a Judge for Mango Minster 2010 remember or she would have gone too…) went on a BIG Road Trip. You can go to this ARCHIVE of our blog to sniff out the answers to these three questions.

1. Where did we go: From **** to **** and back.
2. How long did the trip take: ** days
3. What kind of vehicle did we take? ****

AND to this other ARCHIVE for this final question. (I’m not making this one easy… )

4. What was the C-A-T’s name at our Auntie Rachael’s house? ***   (Hint if you don’t want to read the whole post, you can scan down to the picture of the C-A-T and read beside it for his name…)

Remember, the prizes are a Miss Mercy Winners Badge for this week’s winners, and the Grand Prize, picked from ALL the winners of the weekly Mysteries, will win EITHER a “Little Dott Finds A Home”  book written by Mama Dott and GrandPaw Robert, OR a $20 Gift Certificate to our Country Corgi CafePress Shop.

There are still designs from the Mango Minster 2010 Competitors. If you happened to have been one, you might want to choose something from there, and half of the profits from those sales go to NEADS.  NEADS trains service dogs, hearing dogs and other assistance dogs of all breeds, shapes, and sizes to help people who are deaf or in wheelchairs.

Good luck, Super Sleuths!!!

P.S. Remember that I have put comment moderation on during the 24 hours or so of this contest so no one will be able to see other people's answers.  The comments that are left will be posted Tuesday afternoon or evening.  You can leave your answers in a comment up until Tuesday at noon PST.
