One Year Old!!! Then and NOW… By Dott

Just think… Last year at this time I was a VERY TIRED new Mama.

I even had pretty ears…

Not these Puppy Shredded and Scared ones that I have now. (Robert or Grammy usually help me by touching them up through Photoshop now…)

Anyway, we made some growth collages for your enjoyment…

They’re Leaving AGAIN!

Do you BELIEVE it?! Papa & Grammy are leaving again, probably for at least one night. They plan to take Grandma OC with them because of the extra care she needs, but not the rest of us!

It seems that they want to see their newest grand-daughter that was born last night! The baby’s name is Anna Elizabeth and weighed 7 lbs. and 9 oz. She was 20 inches long and has black hair (Grammy says “at least for now…”) She is supposed to go home from the horse spit all today, which is probably a good idea cause little babies shouldn’t be around a lot of horse spit. This picture was taken by a cellphone and she wasn’t very happy, just being born and probably COLD!

They better come back tomorrow because it will be our BIRTHDAY!!! We will be one year old, and you don’t think they would miss THAT do you?!!!

Foster Dogs We’ve had…

I’m having a really hard time finding friends that haven’t already gotten a Kreative Blogger award. Everyone that I’ve read is just so creative that someone else has already tagged them… SOOO I’m still working on that post since I’ve received the Award from our friends over at Expressly Corgi. We really appreciate it, and I promise to get THAT post up soon… I hope…

Meanwhile, I thought I’d post some pics for this blog of some of the foster dogs we’ve had here as we had one that really looked a lot like Sadie from Laurie’s blog, Sadie the Rescued Corgi
. Laurie is fairly new at blogging, but I’ve found all her posts to be pretty interesting, and she really loves Sadie. That is one lucky little corgi girl!

The first Corgi that we fostered for my Mom's sister was named Callie, and she got a wonderful home with one of Mom's very best friends. This lady had taken my brother and loved him with all of her heart, but on Christmas Day, some neighbor kids had let him out into the street in front of their home and he’d gotten run over. (I'm the pup on the left and my brother, Rascal, is on the right of my Mama Mist.)

She’d called Mom in hysterics, because she was so broken up. She’d been waiting for years for Mist or OC to have another corgi puppy that she could have, but they never got pregnant, so when Callie came to us, Mom offered her to her, and she decided to take her (otherwise, Mom would have probably kept her.) This lady's daughter, later, took one of Dott’s brothers when OC finally did have pups.

We fostered some Corgi mix pups for a few weeks, but didn’t get any pics of them, and then a big, white dog that we think was Labrador/ Great Pyrenees. He was very young and huge and the sweetest temperament!

His eyes were blue, as you can see. He went to the shelter the Gracie’s Mom is the Director of and they found him a wonderful home. We called him Blue while he was here.

We fostered Dott’s brother (Knight from the book) who is now named Zen, for a couple of months when his lady had to find a new place to live where she could keep him. He is loved very much too!

Those of you who have followed us for the past several months know that the pups Dad, that we called Doug, was also a foster dog. He was a full corgi, and so sweet. He was older, though, and insisted on marking EVERYTHING which is why we didn’t end up keeping him. He went to a corgi rescue, and once he was neutered, I’m sure they found him a good home, maybe as an outside dog.

Anyway, those are a few of the dogs we’ve fostered over the years… the ones we’ve gotten pics of anyway. I don’t tend to get very involved with them, except for Doug… (Blush… I got a case of hormones, too, while he was here…) and Mom wouldn’t let me near him after what happened with Dott.

Ha, ha, ha!!!… I just found out that they are going to take Sadie out to be SHOT tomorrow! (Mom: NO, OC!!! … we are NOT taking her to BE shot… We are taking her to GET her RABIES shot as she’s due for one!) Grumble, grumble… DARN!

Just Waitin’ Around…

Well, at this point, we are just waitin’ around for my Dotter to get down to business. She is due today for sure, and is very antsy and uncomfortable at this point. She keeps shifting her position, and Grammy thinks she is in light labor but not hard labor yet.

She is refusing to eat today, too, which Grammy says is a good sign that things are progressing. Papa says that she will probably wait to start having them until about 2 a.m. in the morning so that it will keep him up all night since he has to go to work early in the morning. Everybody is pretty much just resting today in case we ARE up all night.

I don’t envy her. It’s been a little over 3 years since I had her and her brothers, and it was VERY hard for me. I was so tired that my labor stopped for several hours after having the first five, and Mom thought I was done for the night and went to bed early since she had been up all day, all night, and most of the next day.

Since it was my only batch of puppies, I didn’t know how to take care of them properly myself when the last three girls were born during that second night. I don’t even know if they were alive or not when they were born. I DID clean them up, but they were gone when Mom found them in the morning. All three of them were going to be Black Tri-Colored like my Mama Mist.

I was so worn out that I wasn’t able to make enough food for the ones I DID have, and that is why Mom had to help bottle feed them for the first three weeks, every 3 hours. Dotter isn’t nearly as big as I was, though, and she seems to have a pretty good supply of milk, so Mom hopes that she won’t have to bottle feed these, though she did go to the store and get some formula and a bottle just in case since it is supposed to be a weekend thing.

Mom says that she will Twitter, when she has the chance during the deliveries, so if you are interested, and check in on our blog on the right sidebar, you can check the twitters for updates. Well, keep my uncomfortable Dotter in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks, OC

OC's Family Album- Pups

In celebration of the pup's birthday, as I mentioned in our last blog, I thought I would post some family album pics today of them as they grew.

As has been mentioned before, I snuck out and ended up “with pup.” It turns out I had EIGHT, but only 5 survived. (The other 3 were girls, and were corgi marked black tri’s like my Mother, Mist) I, literally, drug the ground!

After a long labor, I had a chance to rest with my beautiful babies...

I didn’t have enough milk because I had been drained from having so many babies, so Mom helped by bottle feeding a little every 2-3 hours for the first 3 or 4 weeks.
Neither of us got a lot of sleep and she was glad that she was on summer vacation most of that time. Here is Dott at 2 days
& BG at 2 weeks old drinking from a puppy bottle.

Here are some pics of the pups at 3 weeks old:

Bear- now Ein,
Knight - now Zen

Little BG

Little Dott

and Bandit.

Here are pictures of Dott and BG, with me, at about 8 weeks old.
He went to live with Mom’s son for a few months after this.

Dott at 3 months…

5 months... notice those HUGE adolescent ears …..

Of course, THEY’ve never been spoiled… by anyone at THIS house... :)

And, here are some of their adult pics. We haven’t got pics of Bear, (now called Ein because he is “#1,” in his house). I just haven’t gotten pictures when I’ve been over there (keep forgetting the camera), though they’ve told us to come by anytime (they are great friends of ours, as are Bandit’s parents. He is Dott's size and BG's color, but with the slightly longer corgi hair.

Bandit with Dott... I have a prof. taken pic of him somewhere, and can't, for the life of me, find it to scan it today...

My handsome son, Knight (Now called Zen -

taken when he stayed with us a month or so about 7 mos. ago)...

My handsome son, BG...

And, my Beautiful Dotter...

Happy 3rd/21st Birthday, My Beautiful Pups!

Hope you enjoyed a look at our family Album! OC
