They’re Leaving AGAIN!

Do you BELIEVE it?! Papa & Grammy are leaving again, probably for at least one night. They plan to take Grandma OC with them because of the extra care she needs, but not the rest of us!

It seems that they want to see their newest grand-daughter that was born last night! The baby’s name is Anna Elizabeth and weighed 7 lbs. and 9 oz. She was 20 inches long and has black hair (Grammy says “at least for now…”) She is supposed to go home from the horse spit all today, which is probably a good idea cause little babies shouldn’t be around a lot of horse spit. This picture was taken by a cellphone and she wasn’t very happy, just being born and probably COLD!

They better come back tomorrow because it will be our BIRTHDAY!!! We will be one year old, and you don’t think they would miss THAT do you?!!!

Day at the Park… By Gimli

Here it is… FRIDAY already, and we never got around to telling you about our time at the Park last Sunday!

After Church last Sunday, everyone decided to go to the Park since it was such a beautiful day. They took stuff for a picnic, and WE got to go. (Actually, “We” were only Grandma OC, Uncle BG, Mama Dott, and me because out elders have always gone into town and there is to many for everyone to go usually, so us pups have to take turns going in…)

They had Tri-Tip BBQ and BBQ Chicken, and we got little pieces of it! MMMmmm!

There were lots of other dogs there too, but it isn’t a “Dog Park” so we all had to be on leashes. One looked a lot like my Grandpa Stitch, Mama Dott and Uncle BG’s Dad, only smaller, according to Grammy, but he wasn’t really her Dad, so Mama Dott didn’t like him much…

I tried to be friendly, though.

Mimi brought Auntie Kisses and Auntie Dolly, too…

We had a lot of fun running and playing on our long leashes, and dog and people watching!

Grammy took each of us for a walk… even Grandma OC in her wheelchair (but she forgot to take pictures because she was paying so much attention to how Grandma was doing…)

Grammy also took some pictures of Brady, her niece’s baby. He is doing very well since he got out of the hospital, and she wants to thank all her friends that were praying for him from her “Country Grammy’s Walk With God” blog!

Sunday of our Valentine’s Weekend… By Gimli

Little Bear had spent the night, so we were able to play with him Sunday morning when we all got up. Papa made breakfast while Grammy got dressed, fed us, made sure Grandma OC had taken her meds, Auntie Sadie was fed and outside in the front yard, and Kody was ready to go (His toys, clothes, etc. packed).

Grandma OC had to stay home since she is still heated up, and she was NOT happy! She couldn’t stay anywhere near Auntie Sadie without a person around to mediate any problems, so they had to be separated. The rest of us got to go… Pip and I because we haven’t been tutored yet, Uncle BG because he’s Grammy’s helper, and Dott & Mercy because GrandPaw wanted to spend as much time with them as possible before their little trip.

We took off for town so our people could go to church and we could play with Mimi’s dogs (Mama Dott and Uncle BG’s half sisters.) Our Auntie’s names are Kisses and Dolly. We visit them a lot! Kisses, is VERY little, weighing only 4 lbs. and Dolly is a little bigger and very fuzzy.

After church, Naunie, Grammy’s other sister who lives next door to Mimi, came over and they left the gate between the two yards open so that all of HER dogs could come over and visit too. She has 4 dogs… Pepper Ann, Mia, Daisy and Molly of her own and had one of the rescue dogs (Mia’s brother that looks like her) that they are taking to Gracie’s Shelter this week. That made twelve of us all together! We outnumbered the PEOPLE!

Grammy’s grandnieces came over to play with Little Bear, (They are all really close friends and love to see him when he comes down) so there was 10 people. We all had a nice lunch and the kids played with us and each other for a few hours and then it was time for us to take the long drive to take Little Bear home.

Papa had a church business meeting to attend, so GrandPaw and Grammy took Dott and Mercy and dropped them at home on the way so OC wouldn’t be so lonely, and took Little Bear and me on the 2 hour trip up to his home. Papa brought Pip and BG home after his meeting.

I got to meet Little Bear’s dogs at HIS house, so I made 3 more furiends! They have 2 black labs, Ricky and Lucy, and a little deer Chihuahua mix named Cassie. I had a lot of fun with my new friends up there as you can see in this video…

Grammy really enjoyed watching her son, Mick, playing with Little Bear, too, but I wasn’t sure for a little bit, if they weren’t playing a little bit to rough…

After Grammy visited Mick and Jenn, for about an hour, we left for the long trip home. It had been a very busy weekend for me, so I was really tired, but I sure had a lot of fun!

We’re Workin’ on Grammy…

We’ve got so much to tell you about all the things we’ve been doing over this past week, and Grammy just can’t seem to get off her duff and help us get the pics, etc. put together to get goin. She’s looking at all the stuff she’s got to do around here before Christmas and getting tired before she even starts! PEOPLE! They are just so strange sometimes!

First, Grammy got a call saying that her son, Little Bear, and his Mom were coming out for a visit for the WHOLE day!!!! She was so excited she started working on the house and got out that nasty, noisy sucking machine again, which ticked off Grandma OC, Uncle BG AND Mama Dott. We just decided to beat a quick retreat and headed outside.

Things got changed, and she only got to see Little Bear for a few hours when they came out so that he could ride his Quad in the pastures and dirt roads around here with his dad. She was happy that she got to see him, but disappointed that they couldn’t stay longer.

WE, in the meantime, had to stay in the yard! Talk about DISAPPOINTED!!!

She was afraid that we might end up under the quad or that motorcycle that her son was running around really fast on. Little Bear is just learning how to handle the quad, she said, and might not stop on time.

The motorcycle was new and her son was having fun racing it down the hill in the side pasture, down into the ditch and jumping it out of the ditch. Grammy told us that he is one of the ones that used to “fly” down that hill when it was a VERY windy day, using a homemade “parachute.”

When the two “riders” went out to ride around for a little bit on the dirt roads, Gimli got to go out of the fence on his leash to play for a little bit with their Chihuahua dog, Cassy. Oh, did I tell you we are starting to go to school and learn about leashes and stuff? That will have to be another story, I guess! I told you we have a BUNCH of them!

Grammy was pretty bummed that they had to leave early, so we went out so that GrandPaw could show her some of our agilities obstacles that we’ve been playing on and try to raise her spirits. We saw a hummingbird on the fence for a little bit when we went into the side yard so she could see our A-Frame. Grammy said it was a "God Smile" for her.

Here I am on the A- Frame… Then Mama Dott showed Gimli how to do it…

Finally he got the hang of it and we both did it together. Grammy was proud!

It took that GIRL, our sister, Mercy, a whole nother day to get the hang of it… snicker…

Visiting at Mimi’s…

Today we went into the bigger town so our people could go to church and we could visit with Mom’s sister, Mimi’s, dogs… the pup’s half-sisters.

THEY took after their mother who was half Yorkie and half Chihuahua. We knew her as “Nasty Nikki.” She had a tiny body with a humongous ATTITUDE! Here is a pic that Mom drew of her for Mimi. She was very fat when she weighed 5 lbs. (WE never saw this smile... THAT was reserved for Mimi only!)

Stitch, BG & Dott’s dad, was two-timing with Nikki. Nikki had a breathing problem so Mimi was afraid to have her go under anesthesia to be spayed, so they were always VERY careful to watch when she was in heat and they still don’t know how it happened… (how/when she got out)… but she got really fat and after a while, they figured out that she was “with pup.” That was about 2 weeks before she had the girls.

Nikki took the rainbow bridge last year, and Mimi is glad that she has Dolly and Kisses now. Those two girls just LOVE their half-sister, my Dott, and will hardly leave her alone from the time she gets to Mimi’s house. They also greet me and brother, BG very exuberantly!

Dott says that, “After all, they ARE her little sisters, and SHOULD look up to her!”

Dolly took more after the Yorkshire Terrier side of Nikki, but she didn’t get her tail docked, so she has a long, swishy one.

Kisses, which Mom really likes and the feeling is mutual, is really tiny… around 4 lbs. She looks more like the Chihuahua side, and just has a few longer hairs around her eyebrows and ruff. She reminds my Mom, a little, of Coco the Princess,
another of our blogging friends.

We had a nice day with the girls and Mimi. We used to see them every weekday while Mom was working, but now we only see them on the weekends, so it was nice to visit for a while.

Weekend continued…

Last time, I told you about what we did most of Saturday. It was getting kind of late in the evening by the time we started home and they hadn’t had a chance to go shopping like they had planned on doing, so we stopped at a little market in a small town on the way home from delivering Dancer. Mom was thrilled to find that the meat prices were pretty good, and they had Oxtails for sale.

Her mom used to make oxtail soup and she hadn’t had it for a long time, so she got a pack of them, came home and started to make some. She made some other stuff for dinner since oxtails have to cook for several hours, and boy, did they start to smell GREAT by the late evening. She had put in the garlic, onion and seasonings while cooking the meat, and after about 4 hours, she added pearl barley and let it simmer another hour.

Let me tell you, WE were all drooling to beat the band! It was pretty awful to find out that she wasn’t serving it until later because she wanted to add vegetables and we didn’t have any.

At least she DID pull out a few of the bones (one each) for us to chew on that night, but we did get the rest of the bones when they had the soup yesterday.

Sunday, our people went into town for church as usual and then to Mimi’s (where WE had stayed with Kisses and Dolly during the services). After lunch, Mom and Dad took me with them to the Big Town to shop at Costco and Winco, take some food to Auntie K (Dad’s elderly aunt) and shop for my new Service Dog harness and matching leash.

I got to go into Costco since I am a Service Dog and it was a bit warm to stay in the car. Mom explained to the man about my jobs, and that, though I wouldn’t be working in their store, I needed to go places with Mom in case she needed me, and it was to hot to stay in the car at the time. They were very nice about it.

After running our other errands, we went into PetCo and Mom found what she said would be a perfect working harness. It has mesh so it shouldn’t be to hot and the saddlebags are bright and can hold my Service Dog papers, and if it is hot, some ice packets to keep me cool. It is Neon Green and black, and she got a nice black leash to go with it. What do you think? Not to bad, if I do say so myself… except for the bare patch on my butt!

On the home front, Doug and I are NOT hitting it off… or maybe we are (as in trying to knock off each other’s blocks). HE is trying to weasel his way into MY Mom’s affections… and MY Dad’s, too! I haven’t been able to relax in my chair at all because I have to stay glued to Mom’s side to warn him off.

She really got after me when we had a … BIG DISCUSSION, shall we say, this evening. She even got out the water bottle and squirted me when I kept warning him to stay on the other side of the room… or, preferably, OUT of the room.

We are proud to let you all know that we have asked to become officially involved in Tank’s Operation Whack-A-Squirrel. We have been gorilla fighting in Squirrel Wars around here for years as most of you know who follow our adventures, but we believe that it will be nice to have others from all over dog blog land to help. Dozer and Mango have done a magnificent job recruiting in their recent blogs!

Dott is hereby presenting Tank, Mango and Dozer with her Mighty Hunter Award for going all out and organizing this momentous task! As Tank gets reports of kills in, we have asked him to refer the Mighty Hunters to us so that they can also pick up their awards.
