See You Later Dear Friend

We were all shocked to hear that our dear friend, the Relentlessly Huge Mango, had to take a sudden trip to the Rainbow Bridge.

We are all so sad that his wonderful family is having to go through the sorrow of losing him, and we are praying for memories of comfort for all of them.

We also believe that he is with so many of his friends, including our Grandma OC, and they are both happy and healthy as they play in those heavenly places.

Run Free, dear friend....  Run Free!

Papa’s Tribute to Grandma OC (as told to Pippin)

OC, or Ornery Cuss, earned her name by the way she treated her brother as a puppy, and she lived up to it her entire life.  (She's the one on the left of her Mama, Mist) As a puppy, she was taken to Grammy’s Special Needs class, and showed great potential as a service dog from the way she acted around the kids, so we decided to raise her, and then donate her to a Helper Dog Group that used a Corgi  in their Logo.  We contacted them, but they only took large breeds, and since, by then she had wormed her way into our lives and hearts, we decided to keep her.

OC loved “road trips” where Papa, Grammy, and her Momma, Misty, would take long trips over the summer in the 18 wheeler that Papa drove going to Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Northern California.  She missed these trips after Papa got a local job, but still went everywhere in the car with her people.

Two years ago, she got to go on her last “Big Truck Road Trip,” as Papa’s company built a trailer for overseas, and Papa got to take it to Jacksonville, Florida to be shipped.

She spent 10 days going coast to coast in a Big Rig with a Walk-In sleeper, with Grammy, Papa, her son BG and two grandsons, Gimli and me (Pippin).   All her other trips had been in a truck with just a sleeper berth.

She got to “lay over” in Houston, Texas, on the way back, when Grammy and Papa visited with their grandkids.
The Lord knew what He was doing when He allowed us to keep OC, as she did become a Helper/Service dog for Grammy.   After Grammy was injured at work and had to retire, OC worked at picking up and fetching when Grammy could not.  She also herded the goats for them until an old billy goat crushed her against a wall and hurt her hips.

During her last years, this caused her to be in a “wheelchair” that Grammy’s son, Robert, built out of P V C pipe and Rollers. With this, she could still run around the property with the rest of us doing “squirrel patrol,” which meant checking every place where something could hide and then chasing it if something came out.

Her last months, when she could not even walk in her wheelchair, were spent keeping track of Grammy and the other people she loved, laying on a bed near them, always watching everything with her “bright eyes. “

She also loved going camping in the Travel Trailer, with all the new places to smell and dogs to bark at, while still being with her loved ones.

She really enjoyed her last trip with us when she got to go to her first Corgi Picnic.  This was my tribute to you, OC girl.   I will miss your head on my leg on trips…  Papa (as told to Pippin—Papa’s Pup)

Goodbye, Mama OC…

We are very sad around here. Grandma OC went to the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon at about 1:30 p.m. We will miss her...

My Dearest OC,

I love you with all my heart. I was there when you were born, and watched you grow and learn to be the wonderful helper dog you were to me throughout your life. You've been there for me all these years, loving me and helping me when I couldn't do so many things for myself. When you went down into your wheelchair and then into being totally bedridden these past several months, I was happy to be able to give back a little of the care you gave me.
When the Big C made it hard for you to breathe this past week and the Seizure Monster came to call last night, I knew it was time, so today I took you to the Bridge so you can go to your Mama Mist and Daddy Bud and all the other friends that have gone ahead of you.

No more trouble breathing... no more pain. Run and play, chase squirrels and rabbits and enjoy the things you haven't been able to do these past few years. I will see you when I get there, my sweet corgi girl. Love, Mama

Remembering 9/11, our Cousin, Mia and Mercy

Grammy had put up a post to Remember 9/11 on her Country Grammy's Blog, and meant to post a link to THAT today, but then we heard from her sister, Naunie, that her little Shih Tzu, Mia, had taken the Rainbow Bridge this morning and things got sidetracked.

We DID get our flag put up in the frontyard for the day, and if you would like to read the 9/11 Tribute that she did, you can go HERE.

Little Mia has been fighting a bad case of Pancreatitis valiantly for the past week, as those of you from our Facebook friends know.  She decided that she needed to take the Rainbow Bridge this morning, and we are very sad for our Auntie, today.  We will see you later, Sweet Little Mia.  Run Free!

Grammy has also been busy taking care of Mercy, who has done something nasty to her nose.  We don't know if it was a spider bite, cat scratch, garter snake bite, or wasp sting (Tarantula Hawks are all over again).  It started off with a bunch of little scratch type marks on top of her nose, but the next day it got a lot worse.

She has to take several medicines (antihistamines and antibiotics) and have it cleaned off and medicated a couple of times a day.  She is eating well and has no fever.  She also had injured her leg the other day, but that is doing well now and she is putting weight on it again.  She will need to go to the vet on Monday if there isn't any improvement on her nose.

Time Out for More Prayer…

We have been saddened to learn that two of our corgi friends have taken the Rainbow Bridge this week, and that their families are hurting from the loss of their dear loved ones. Though we believe that our wonderful friends, Dottie from “Our Life: Dozer and Coop,” and Bridget, from “Christmas Corgi” are running, pain free, beyond the Bridge, we ask that their friends keep their families in their hearts and prayers during these coming weeks.

We also would like to ask for prayers for our Papa’s sister who is going in for a major surgery this morning (Sunday 7/24/10). She has been in the hospital for the past week, and an infection is causing quite a problem, so they are going in to take it out. We are praying that God will help give her doctors wisdom and guide their hands, and that there be NO complications. We also ask Him be with her and touch her, and that she heals quickly and completely.

Good Bye, Dear Max...

With sad hearts we take this time to say Good bye, for now, to our Dear Friend Maxdog from South Africa.

All of us, here in Corgi Country, have our little noses pointed up toward the Rainbow Bridge and are singing our WWwwooooooos out with all our hearts, for though we are so happy that Max is running free from the tiredness he has felt for so long now, we are sad for ourselves and for all of those around the world that have loved him, prayed for him, and tried to help support his family through this time of his illness.

Max fought for 106 days past when the Dr. said only a week or two left,  to stay with his Dear Mom until after her birthday, and though he has been pain free, he just got too tired, so she has given him the greatest gift, freed him from this world and sent him ahead...

Caryle and Maxdog have enriched our lives so much throughout his life, and we all want to say thank you. We are surrounding your family with prayers and love, during this time...
