We DID it… We Kept the Secret! by Mercy Wigglebottom

We DID it… We Kept the Secret! See Mr. Mango… we TOLD you we could keep a secret! Did we do good? Did WE!?

A few weeks ago, we got a quick visit from Mr. Mango. I was out going to school, doing some leash training when suddenly we heard this huge scary noise coming across the sky. It about scared the LIFE out of me!!!
Vid of jet

GrandPaw picked me up and we watched it go over and then it circled around and came down for a landing, and out came the most hugest dog we’d EVER seen!

You guessed it! Mr. Mango, himself, had come to visit with us. We had been told about him and his visit to Corgi Country during Operation Wack-A Squirrel, but that was before we were born.

He had come to personally invite Grandma OC to be a JUDGE for the 2010 Mango Minster Dog Show! He asked her to judge the Herding Class for him. She talked with him for a while, and said that she would let him know.

He talked to us for a little bit, and asked us to promise that we wouldn’t say anything until everything was finalized, and we DIDN'T, even though that was a BIG secret... (Aren't you proud of us?) Then Mr. Mango got back into his jet and headed back to Master Chew Sits. He said he was glad to get out of the snow for a while.

Grandma wasn’t sure, at the time, and had to think about it because of her health issues. Grandma has let Mr. Mango know that she has accepted the honor and responsibility that he has bestowed upon her. So now Grandma OC is really working a lot with Mama Dott so that she will be able to take care of the responsibility of running Corgi Country while Grandma is gone to Mr. Mango’s for the judging. She will leave at the end of January for about a week.

Grandma OC is judging the Herding Group, so she is hoping to have a fairly big showing of “herding dogs” of ANY breed. Her main criteria will be pictures that “show the action” of a dog “herding” something, be it bird, bug, livestock, kids, etc., like this one of our Great Grandpa, Buddy. Rules for entering are HERE.

To make it completely fair, and since this can’t be judged on looks, she will do two “corgi tosses.” Everyone who makes it through the original criteria (action herding shot) will have their names and/or pictures put on paper and tossed out into a specific area, and then she will choose seven to ten for her first cut (as in regular shows). This will be taped so that it can be seen. The final cut will be chosen from those and the results will be posted on the Mango Minster site on the Herding Dog Judging Day.

Because of this judging formula, we have been told that we can enter this class too, if we want… We aren’t sure if we will enter or if we will go for “Working Dogs.” We are just so excited… Pippin is just DANCING!!!

OC: Come on, you “Herding Dogs” out there, get your pics in! We’ve heard there are some pretty great prizes coming in for the winners!

Another Little Visitor… by Gimli

First, I’m supposed to tell you that our WONDERFUL neighbor came over with his tractor on Saturday and plowed our back and front pastures, and then planted grain hay for us like he did last year!

Grammy says that this is a real BLESSING for us because last year, even with the minimal amount of rain we got, we had enough hay to feed the horses for almost 3 months!

We had 3 horses then, and one was that rescue horse that was so skinny and ate enough for 2 horses. If we get some good rains over the next few months, we should have enough food to last the horses 5-6 months, and Grammy tells us that is a GOOD thing! Sounds like more money for food, treats and toys for us, so I agree!

That machine he used sure was NOISY though!!! We barked and barked until we got in trouble, so then we just kept a close eye on what he was doing while he was in our pastures.

Later that day, another of Grammy’s grandkids came to visit with us. This one is called Blaze (Grammy has permission to put her pic and name on here) and she runs EVERYWHERE, and doesn’t tend to slow down AT ALL… EVER! She wore US out!

She LOVES horses and wanted to help Grammy with feeding them. I guess she WAS a big help to Grammy that way! After they were done feeding, we went out into the side pasture and let Blaze run. Grammy told us to stay with her and keep an eye on her, so we tried…

We ran and ran for a LONG time!

I think that we wore Grammy out just watching us! We finally went back into the yard, and Grammy sat down at one of the picnic tables… then Blaze saw our Obstacle Course… Here we go again!

Up and down, round and back up, across and down… I guess that kids like our fun place as much as WE do!!! GrandPaw did REAL GOOD!!!

We had a blast with THIS grandkid, too! See our butt’s wiggle…

Grandma OC says to tell you that she has a BIG announcement for our next blog, so be sure and check it out, OK!

Finally… Our Christmas Vids! by Gimli

Grammy has been so busy that she is WAY behind in getting these things done to show you, but since we PROMISED, we finally were able to herd her into getting the job done. Also, we had to wait until GrandPaw Robert could go into town to upload them into YouTube so we could post them, because, even though Grammy TRIED, Blogger refused to let her upload them through either Explorer OR Mozilla!

We woke up on Christmas morning and GrandPaw Robert got out his gifts for Dott and Mercy first. Papa was eating, so Mercy was a bit distracted as she wanted to make sure the rest of us didn’t get something she wasn’t getting…

Dott really liked HER squeaky lamb bone.

AND Mercy’s Tuggy Lizard… THAT made Mercy mad and she wanted it back later, when her Mama was playing with it!

After GrandPaw handed out their toys, he handed out the toys that Santa had gotten us! Unca BG got a Squeaky on a Rope w a ball, Grandma OC got a Squeaky Hamburger, and we got Ball colored Squeaky bones.

We all got to play with all of the toys! I herded a bunch of the toys onto my blanket, to keep them from getting away, but Mercy decided SHE wanted some of the toys I had carefully gathered up and we had a tug-a-war. Grammy got to laughing really hard because Mercy’s ears reminded her of a bat trying to take off in flight!

Santa brought a BROWN bunned hamburger for Grandma OC and a GOLDEN bunned hamburger for Mama Dott, and there was a bit of a tiff over a misunderstanding about which was who’s. GrandPaw explained it to Mama Dott, finally. Grandma OC really LOVED her hamburger and since she had taken her medicine, she was feeling pretty good and played with it a lot.

Grammy wouldn’t let us open our own presents because she says we need to learn NOT to tear paper up and she didn’t want us getting the idea that it was ok to do that, and that’s why GrandPaw handed out our gifts. After all our toys from Santa were handed out, we all got to play with everything for a while.

I started carefully herding those toys back to my blanket, but GrandPaw came and scattered them again. THEN, Grammy sent GrandPaw Robert in to get the gifts she and Papa had gotten us! It was a BIG BAG of TREATS!!! There were all kinds and we got so excited we were jumping all over the place.
We got a couple each that morning (a small chicken breast piece and then a larger chewy one) and still have some left even now! Yummy!!!!

I hope you enjoyed a glimpse of our Christmas morning! We are having a blast with our gifts… at least the ones that are still stuffed and squeaking…

THIS is NOT fair! I'm going to finish this post, give Papa a hug and go to bed!!!

We wish everyone a VERY HAPPY NEW YEARzzzzzzz....

Grammy’s 6 year old grandson, Little Bear, is visiting and we have been SOOOO BUSY!!! He is in bed now, so we are going to just take a few minutes to post a few quick pics to give you an idea of how things are going, and then fill you in more later…
