Finally… Our Christmas Vids! by Gimli

Grammy has been so busy that she is WAY behind in getting these things done to show you, but since we PROMISED, we finally were able to herd her into getting the job done. Also, we had to wait until GrandPaw Robert could go into town to upload them into YouTube so we could post them, because, even though Grammy TRIED, Blogger refused to let her upload them through either Explorer OR Mozilla!

We woke up on Christmas morning and GrandPaw Robert got out his gifts for Dott and Mercy first. Papa was eating, so Mercy was a bit distracted as she wanted to make sure the rest of us didn’t get something she wasn’t getting…

Dott really liked HER squeaky lamb bone.

AND Mercy’s Tuggy Lizard… THAT made Mercy mad and she wanted it back later, when her Mama was playing with it!

After GrandPaw handed out their toys, he handed out the toys that Santa had gotten us! Unca BG got a Squeaky on a Rope w a ball, Grandma OC got a Squeaky Hamburger, and we got Ball colored Squeaky bones.

We all got to play with all of the toys! I herded a bunch of the toys onto my blanket, to keep them from getting away, but Mercy decided SHE wanted some of the toys I had carefully gathered up and we had a tug-a-war. Grammy got to laughing really hard because Mercy’s ears reminded her of a bat trying to take off in flight!

Santa brought a BROWN bunned hamburger for Grandma OC and a GOLDEN bunned hamburger for Mama Dott, and there was a bit of a tiff over a misunderstanding about which was who’s. GrandPaw explained it to Mama Dott, finally. Grandma OC really LOVED her hamburger and since she had taken her medicine, she was feeling pretty good and played with it a lot.

Grammy wouldn’t let us open our own presents because she says we need to learn NOT to tear paper up and she didn’t want us getting the idea that it was ok to do that, and that’s why GrandPaw handed out our gifts. After all our toys from Santa were handed out, we all got to play with everything for a while.

I started carefully herding those toys back to my blanket, but GrandPaw came and scattered them again. THEN, Grammy sent GrandPaw Robert in to get the gifts she and Papa had gotten us! It was a BIG BAG of TREATS!!! There were all kinds and we got so excited we were jumping all over the place.
We got a couple each that morning (a small chicken breast piece and then a larger chewy one) and still have some left even now! Yummy!!!!

I hope you enjoyed a glimpse of our Christmas morning! We are having a blast with our gifts… at least the ones that are still stuffed and squeaking…

Our First Squirrel Patrol!!! ... by Gimli

Grammy said that we could go on our first squirrel patrol because we have learned to come when we are called! This is going to be such a BLAST!

We have gotten out of the yard before and been allowed to go around the big yards that Grammy calls corrals.

We’ve gotten to meet the big horses when they have been eating, too, but we hadn’t gotten a chance to do a FULL SCALE Squirrel Patrol before!

Boy, were we EXCITED!!!! First, Mama and Grandma OC said we needed to check under and around the Tackroom. Pippin got a little ahead of himself and ended up running around in circle because he was so excited! Mercy had to get him back on track.

When BG called the “All Clear…” we headed out to the side pasture to check the big ditch. You can see just a tiny bit of green starting to come up because of all the rain we’ve had. We ran around checking all the bushes and the holes down there, following our teachers.

We ended up getting a little bit ahead of our teachers, and went up on the hill on the other side of the ditch, so Grammy did a “Recall!” We came running back really fast, and she gave us treats just like she’s been doing every time we come when we are called… then, because we came back so good, we got to go back to the patrol.

Grandma OC was getting pretty tired coming back up the side of the ditch and stayed pretty close to Grammy the rest of the time. Mama Dott got convinced that there was something in an old barrel that was down in the ditch, and called all of us over, but we couldn’t get whatever it was out, so finally gave up.

We went on down the ditch toward the front pasture, but since Grandma OC was so tired, Grammy called us back and said that we were doing really good, but we needed to go in. (We are supposed to sit when we come back to Grammy, but she was kind of easy on us THIS time because we had come back so good when we were called.)

We came in kind of slow because Grammy and Grandma OC were tired, but we followed them really good, and finally got all the way back. Mercy didn’t want to come in when the rest of us did, and it took them another minute or two to convince her… GrandPaw Robert even used the “N” word (No) AND the “BD” words (BAD DOG) before she finally decided she’d better listen or he might come after her. She still got her treat when she DID come, but we’d gotten several by then, while they were trying to convince her, so that wasn’t to bad for us.

We went and started playing with Unca BG and our favorite toy while they convinced her. (Grammy says Mercy has a mind of her own, and she’s going to have to keep an eye on her!)

Well, I hope that you enjoyed joining us on our very FIRST SQUIRREL PATROL!!! WE sure had a lot of fun, but were totally wiped and took a long nap after our return!

Beware What You Wish For!!

We went to visit this Corgi website: http://winjammin.home.mchsi.com/corgihumor.html and found this joke. It was just to cute not to pass on!!!

Close to an obedience ring at a dog show, a terrier was tossing a small object around. Three alert dogs, a Basset Hound, a Beagle and an Afghan Hound, heard some strange cries and rescued a small creature from the terrier.

It turned out to be a little man dressed in green--one of the wee people.

The leprechaun was grateful for the rescue and decided to grant each of the dogs one wish. The Basset thought long and hard and finally said, "I am about to go into the ring to compete and I am just not built to do the jumps. I would like to be able to jump twice as high as I can now." The leprechaun granted the wish and ZAP, the happy Basset amazed everyone by clearing every jump by at least a foot.

The Beagle was impressed. "I am pretty good at what I understand, but if I had triple my intelligence, I know I would make my owner very proud." The leprechaun granted the wish and ZAP, the Beagle passed without a mistake and even helped the judge add up the score!

The Afghan was really impressed. "There is a rumor--not true of course--that Afghans have only beauty and no brains. I would like to quadruple my intelligence."

"Wow," said the Leprechaun, "Are you sure? If I change your intelligence that much it will change your whole life. You will look at things differently, act differently, nothing will be the same. Are you sure?"

"Will I still be beautiful?" asked the Afghan.

"Yes, I can arrange that."

"Well then, grant my wish."

The Leprechaun granted the wish, and ZAP, the Afghan was turned into a corgi!!
Story by Carole McCullough

I’m not really sure what is going on with me. They tell me I’m pregnant and going to have puppies, probably this weekend, but I’m not really sure what they are talking about! I don’t even LIKE most of the puppies I’ve met!

All I know is that there is something inside of me that feels like aliens kicking my innards all over creation! I hardly get to sleep a wink!

Everyone thinks it is so cute to feel my tummy, but I’m just getting downright UNCOMFORTABLE! I can’t lay on my tummy anymore, so spend most of my time on my side or back.

I’m starving, and shove everyone out of the way hysterically when the Chicken breast jerky comes out, but Grammy won't get the hint and doesn't give me very much of it. I don’t usually want to eat the DOG FOOD they try to foist off on me. They keep trying to get me to eat just a little bit because it is supposed to have extra vitamins and minerals, but I just keep turning up my nose, until Grammy makes me some good tasting food. The problem is, that THEN she tries to put powdered vitamins in THAT!

AND, do you BELIEVE THIS…. They got a cardboard BOX and put stuff in it to make me a new bed! A BOX!!! … with newspapers, and towels and an ugly brown sheet! Do they actually expect me to sleep in a BOX?!!! I sleep on Dad’s bed, my recliner in his room, my other recliner in the front room, or Grammy’s waterbed! NOT A BOX!!!

After all THAT, they wonder why I’m grumpy!? Where’s my fuzzy…

Mom and I Had a WAR!

ANNOUNCEMENT: First, before I tell my story, I wanted to let everyone in the Oregon area (not sure exactly where in Oregon) know about this Corgi Benefit Walk that a bunch of my anipals were Twittering about. This “Corgi Walk” will benefit an Animal Hospital and a corgi club: “Proceeds from the benefit, which raised $1,530 last year, will go to DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital and the Columbia River Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club.”

Now, on with my story… Mom and I were at WAR for a while this afternoon! Mama OC and Dott got involved after awhile, too. Even Sadie joined in for a little while until Mama OC told her to mind her own business!

I was calmly playing with my Ball n’ Rope, and ran over and pushed it into Mom’s knee. She grabbed it, gave it a jerk, and the WAR WAS ON!

I pulled and jerked, but couldn’t get it away from her for several minutes! She is pretty strong…

I FRAPPED all around the front room in a victory FRAP when I finally got it, then ran back and told her, “SEE I am stronger than you,” but while I was talking, she grabbed it and we battled it out again!

Then, and you probably won’t believe this… she actually tried to give her end to Mama OC who had been yelling on the sidelines! I’m not really sure who she had been rooting for… probably Mom… so maybe they were in “Kahoots!”

As usual, whenever there is a rumble going on lately, Dott had to come over and stick her nose into it…

Mama OC tried to distract her by kissing her face…

When THAT happened, Mom tried to give the rope to HER! What is this ANYWAY!??!! That is MY rope!

Dott finally took it though and started pulling…

After a minute or so, she gave me “THE LOOK!” Now, I ask you… is THAT fair!? I can’t fight a pregnant, moody, LITTLE sister! She’d eat my nose right off my FACE, AND I would end up getting in trouble!!

I guess I lost that battle, but I’ll BE BACK to finish THIS war!

Snicker....

Busy Couple of Days…

Sunday, we went into town so our people could go to church, and we could visit with our half-sisters. After church, Little Bear, and his mom and dad surprised Mom at Mimi’s house for a small birthday party. I heard Robert joke that Mom was “older than dirt.” She laughed and smacked him. I didn’t know you COULD be older than DIRT! What was on the ground before dirt?

Mimi had made two really pretty cakes. One with fruit, that was “Lite”… I guess that means that it was white, which it was, but I don’t know why they didn’t just call it “White,” and another that was chocolate with chocolate frosting. Unfortunately, WE only got a little taste of each.

We had to leave pretty early for a Sunday, because Robert and Dad had to make the monster finish up burying the trench it had dug before. Robert had to get up early Monday morning to haul it back to it’s home in the big town, while Dad went back to work. They sure didn’t get a very good rest this weekend, and WE didn’t get to spend much time with them either! I hope that old monster doesn’t come back and hog more time from US any time soon!

They had to let the glue dry on some of the fittings and tighten a few others before they could try to turn on the water. Mom was almost afraid to hope because that waterline runs over a mile and a half across several people’s back pastures (for those that are fairly new to this blog) and one of those people has big equipment. They sometimes break our waterline when they aren’t careful and run over it. Since it’s been off for so long, we won’t know if they have caused a problem until we turn on the water and let it run for a while.

Robert is still making water barrel runs. With Dad at work and Robert running to the Big Town, doing water runs and then our people going to their Monday night Bible Study, they couldn’t test the line Monday. Robert tried to turn on the water Tuesday evening, but there were some big leaks around some “fittings.”

He had to go and get some kind of tool they needed to tighten them up. If they are “fittings,” why don’t they fit without extra tighteners. People call things such weird names. He DID bring me a present when he came home, though. Now, I have a squeaky squirrel, too!

The leak from the first test made the hole fill with water, so now they have to wait again for it to drain/dry out so they can dig out the mud enough to redo the “fittings.” That was good anyway because we’ve had to run into Mimi’s town the past couple of days for appointments and work Robert had to do at the church. Dad also got an extra fitting in case the other fitting had it’s own problems or was made wrong. It's been a PAIN for them!

We DID get a little water up to the house during that first test, and got Mom pretty excited, but then Robert called on his cell phone and said he had to turn it off again because of that leak, so she cried a little. We felt bad that she was upset, but she says that when the time is right, it will happen. Maybe the next time they turn it on, Mom will be able to do her “Happy Dance…”

There is another big fire on the other side of the small mountains from us and it is putting out a lot of smoke in the air. It made the sun look dark red Monday night and last night. Robert tried to take some pictures, but by the time he got the camera out, the angle had changed so it’s not as red in the pictures as it was when we were looking at it. It made Mom think about what the Bible says about the sun turning blood red during the end times. Interesting how smoke makes it do that…

We are just glad that the wind hasn’t blown a lot of it this way because Dott HATES smoke and always gets all nervous and shaky when she smells it. Last year when they had a big fire and the smoke blew our way the first night, she went in and woke Mom up and wouldn’t let her go back to bed until she checked out the whole house and went outside and found out that it was on the wind. Mom says Dott is a good smoke detector.
